Flippen graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in human development and family studies. Softball runs in her family. Her mom, Mary Lou Flippen, was an All-American softball player at Utah State and was a member of the 1980 and 1981 national championship teams.
Flippen ranked 19th at the end of the 2020 season with 1420 points. She drove in 18 runs and posted a .340 average at the plate, while flashing leather in the infield on stellar defensive plays. As a member of Team USA she earned a silver medal at the 2017 World Cup of Softball, a gold at the 2017 Pan American Championship, and a bronze at the 2018 USA Softball International Cup.
