The fourth season of Athletes Unlimited Softball may be the most competitive yet with how the leaderboard has shifted throughout the season.

In Week Four, two athletes will be captains for the first time and half of the top 10 rankings have changed.

Mover of the Week: Delanie Wisz

Delanie Wisz is the Mover of the Week jumping 26 spots into the top half of the leaderboard.

She flashed her power, knocking two home runs and hitting .500 in Week Four. She was one of the top earners in all three categories, most notably raking in 120 stat points – it was her best weekend of the year. She collected MVP points for the first time, earning MVP 2 for +40 and MVP 3 for +20.

Moving into the captain’s chair: Denham & Flippen

It could be argued that a late jump up the leaderboard is most important if it’s to be a captain.

That was the case this past week for Alyssa Denham and Hannah Flippen who both landed in the top four.

This feels like a repeat of Denham’s Week Four in 2022. Here’s how the two seasons parallel: this same time last year, Denham made a 10-spot jump into the top four to become a first-time captain. She then went on to finish as a second-place medalist. This week, Denham made a 9-spot jump to be a captain going into Week Five yet again. What made the push for her this time were massive win points, nine scoreless innings, and MVP honors twice.

Flippen now ranks third after moving up nine spots as well. She had a breakout weekend, going 5-for-9 at the plate with two home runs, a double, and two singles. Flippen’s timely hitting earned her MVP honors twice and she was the top point earner of the week.

It was just what she needed to move up the leaderboard. Flippen is the second-winningest athlete on the season, trailing only Odicci Alexander in win points.

Winning and winning and winning some more

Click back to last week’s ‘Mover of the Week‘ article and you could almost copy-paste about Odicci Alexander. Yet again, she led her team to a 3-0 week, collecting all the game win points and winning 19 out of 21 innings.

She made an appearance in the circle for every game of Week Four, throwing 8 ⅔ innings. It contributed to her season’s 1.53 ERA and she’s holding opponents to a .179 batting average.

She remains first overall going into Champions Weekend with a 246-point lead.

If you’re competing in the AU Fantasy Pick ‘Em it’s your last chance to make a move up the leaderboard. If she hasn’t been one of your picks every week I think you should put your faith in Rachel Garcia. She’s eighth on the leaderboard but week after week she is the top stat point earner.

Tune in this weekend

Can anyone unseat Alexander from the crown? Or will she three-peat the game sweep? It’s almost anyone’s game in the top 10 to finish the season as a medalist.
