Laurin Mincy
Biography
Personal: Mincy looks up to Michael Jordan as her sports hero. She comes from a family of three children and has ventured into coaching and youth mentorship. Additionally, she recently worked as a replay operator for the NBA.
2022 Season: Mincy started in all 15 games of the inaugural AU Pro Basketball season, amassing 3,019 leaderboard points to secure the 25th position in the league rankings. Her averages stood at 7.8 points and 2.7 rebounds per game, with four instances of reaching double figures in scoring, including consecutive double-digit performances to conclude Week One. Notably, she ranked eighth in Athletes Unlimited with 67 three-point field goal attempts, maintaining a shooting percentage of 32.8 from the field and 26.9 from long range. Among her notable performances, Mincy achieved a season-high of 13 points against Team Mitchell on January 29, shooting 4-of-10 from the field and grabbing two rebounds. Additionally, she contributed an 11-point effort against Team Carrington and added four rebounds in 21 minutes of play. Her Week Three started strong with an 11-point game and a season-high four assists against Team Brown on February 9, followed by a 10-point contribution against Team Harrison on February 18.
Other Professional Experience: Mincy began her career with Electra Ramat Hasharon (Israel) during the 2015-16 season. She then moved on to play for H.R. Le-Zion before spending two seasons with Australia's WNBL team, the Townsville Fire, in 2017-18 and 2018-19.
College Experience: Mincy was a five-year letter winner at Maryland. She ranks second in program history with 143 games played. Her tenure there included leading the Terrapins to five NCAA Tournament appearances and two Final Four berths. Mincy finished with 1,379 points while shooting 42.4 percent from the field and holding the second-highest free-throw percentage in Maryland history at 81.7 percent. In her redshirt senior year in 2014-15, she led the team in scoring (13.5), free throw percentage (.861), and three-point field goal percentage (.385). She earned honorable mention All-ACC player as a freshman and was a member of the Wooden Preseason Top 30 and Naismith Early Season Watch Lists in 2012-13.
