Amanda Johansen
Biography
Personal: Johansen graduated from USC in 2016 with a bachelor's degree in business administration and a minor in sports media studies. She also holds a Master's degree in sports management from Mount St. Mary's and a second Master's degree in sports science from Hofstra. She is recognized as a certified sports nutritionist by the International Society of Sports Nutrition. Johansen's younger sister, Kelly, played lacrosse at USC from 2017-2020.
2022 Season: Johansen finished in seventh place in the league with 1,372 leaderboard points. She ranked ninth in the circuit with 920 win points and 90 MVP points. Additionally, she placed seventh with 362 stat points. Johansen scored four two-point goals, which tied her for second place in the league. She also ranked fourth with 25 ground balls and third with 41 draw controls. Notably, she closed Week One with back-to-back hat tricks against Team Read and Team Waters. In the season finale against Team Glynn, she scored two goals, including a two-pointer, with an assist. Johansen also had consecutive two-goal performances against Team Moreno in the Week Two finale and Week Three opener.
2021 Season: Johansen joined the Athletes Unlimited roster for Week Three after serving as a facilitator in the first two weeks. She played a total of nine games and finished the season with 884 leaderboard points. She ranked third in the league with five two-point goals. Johansen scored at least one goal in 7-of-9 games, including three games with two goals each. Against Team Wood on August 16, she netted a pair of two-point goals along with an assist. Her highest-scoring game was against Team Arsenault on August 8, where she accumulated 176 leaderboard points by scoring two goals (including a two-pointer), providing an assist, and securing four ground balls and four draw controls. Johansen also started the season strong with 141 points against Team Read on August 6, scoring a goal with three ground balls and three draw controls.
International Experience: Johansen made her debut with the United States Senior National Team at the 2018 Fall Classic and was part of the training team for Team USA's 2022 World Championship squad.
Other Professional Experience: Johansen played for the Baltimore Ride in the 2016 United Women's Lacrosse League season, scoring seven goals and providing six assists in nine games. She also spent two years with the Baltimore Brave of the Women's Professional Lacrosse League, earning All-Star Team recognition twice. In 2019, she tallied nine goals, five assists, and 24 draw controls.
At USC: Johansen was a four-year letter winner at USC. She started all 77 games for the Women of Troy from 2013-2016. Throughout her college career, she accumulated 134 goals and 60 assists. As a freshman in 2013, she had a career-best 41 goals. Johansen also recorded 103 career ground balls and 258 draw controls. She was named a Third-Team IWLCA All-American as a senior and received IWLCA All-Region recognition four times. In 2013, she was named the MPSF Rookie of the Year. Additionally, she earned First-Team MPSF All-Conference recognition four times. Johansen led the Trojans in draw controls during her freshman and sophomore years and led the team with 20 caused turnovers in 2015. She had a total of 22 career hat tricks, including seven games with four or more goals.
