Shannon Rhodes
Biography
Personal: Rhodes majored in physical culture and sports at Texas and would be a travel blogger if she was not playing softball. She enjoys the outdoors and visiting coffee shops. Rhodes lists Texas baseball associate head coach Steve Singleton and former Oregon and Texas assistant coaches Chelsea Spencer and Kailee Cuico as people who have made a difference in her life.
2023 AUX Season: During the 2023 AUX season, Rhodes earned a total of 464 leaderboard points in her second AUX campaign. Out of the 10 games played, she started in 8 of them. She had a batting average of .222 and recorded three hits, one of which was a double. Additionally, she scored three runs throughout the season. Rhodes had a notable performance in consecutive games against Team Zerkle on June 12 and Team Mulipola on June 14, where she achieved a hit in each game. She also went 1-for-2 with a run scored against Team Filler on June 19.
2022 Championship Season: Rhodes was named Rookie of the Year after finishing sixth on the leaderboard with 1,564 points. She also ranked second in the circuit with 524 stat points and added 180 MVP points. Rhodes tied for the league lead with 15 runs scored and hit eight home runs, ranking second in the league with 46 total bases. She hit two home runs in a game twice and hit safely in the first 13 games of the season before going 0-for-5 in the final two games. Rhodes had five multi-hit games and went 2-for-4 with three runs scored and four runs batted in against Team Chidester on August 20. She hit a home run in three consecutive games from August 14-20, including two home runs against Team McCleney on August 14.
2022 AUX Season: Rhodes placed 16th on the leaderboard with 1,042 points in her professional debut. She started in 11 games and registered six hits, including three home runs, the most in the league. Rhodes also scored seven runs with five runs batted in. She hit a home run in back-to-back games against Team Mulipola and Team Gibson on June 18 and hit her first Athletes Unlimited home run on June 14 with a two-run shot against Sydney Littlejohn Watkins in the fifth inning. Rhodes tallied one hit in six of her first seven games and scored a season-high two runs against Team Chidester on June 14.
2021 Championship Season: Rhodes was one of 12 players selected in the Athletes Unlimited Softball College Draft in the 2021 Championship Season.
International Experience: Rhodes helped Team USA secure a Gold medal at the 2022 Pan American Championships, batting .455 (5-for-11) during round robin play with two home runs and a double. Rhodes also drove in seven runs in five games.
At Texas: Rhodes played her final three seasons at Texas after beginning her career at Oregon. She compiled a .332 batting average with 43 home runs and 192 runs batted in while playing 262 career games. Rhodes tallied 242 hits, including 37 doubles and three triples, while scoring 177 runs. She led Longhorns with 53 runs scored, 55 RBI and 117 total bases as a fifth-year senior en route to earning Second-Team NFCA All-Region and All-Big 12 Conference accolades. Rhodes belted a pair of grand slams at Texas and ranks ninth in program history with a .569 slugging percentage. She tied the Texas single-game record with three home runs and 12 total bases against UTSA on March 27, 2021. Rhodes earned Second-Team All-Region honors as a sophomore at Oregon after hitting 11 home runs with 45 RBI over 62 games. She was a member of the 2017 Pac-12 All-Freshman Team after starting 54-of-59 games and fashioned a .336 batting average in her rookie season with seven home runs and 46 runs batted in. Rhodes was named MVP of the Eugene Regional after going 7-for-9 in three wins with two doubles and four runs batted in.
