Week 1 Captains Named for Softball Season 4

The final leaderboard standings from the previous Championship Season determine the captains for the start of each new AU Softball season.

Mulipola captured the 2022 title with a stellar performance in a thrilling finale. She tallied 1,782 and takes the No. 1 spot as she aims to repeat the feat She led the league in batting average (.432), on-base percentage (.569), slugging percentage (1.182), home runs (9), RBIs (19), and stat points (632) in 2022. She is the first-ever triple-crown winner in league history.

Denham, who finished 62 points behind Mulipola with 1,720 points, was the best pitcher in the league last season. She recorded a perfect 6-0 record with two complete games and a shutout. Hitters averaged just .217 against her. She struck out 27 batters and posted a league-best 1.94 ERA.

Outfielder McCleney (1,650 points) was one of the most elite hitters last season and ranked second in hits with 20 in 54 at-bats, including six doubles and two home runs, posting a .370 average.

Taking the final captain’s position is Rhodes (1,564). The 2022 Rookie of the Year ranked second to Mulipola in home runs with eight. She hit .375, drove in 14 RBI, and finished second with a .958 slugging percentage. She finished in 6th during the 2022 season, but will take the No. 4 captain’s spot as the highest-returning player beyond the Top 3.
