Newcomers round out final additions to 2023 Softball roster
Four athletes will start their professional softball careers with Athletes Unlimited this summer after signing to the 2023 roster. Josie Muffley, Gianna Boccagno, Myka Sutherlin, and Frankie Hammoude will compete in Season 4 in Rosemont, Ill beginning July 28. They join Caroline Jacobsen, Madison Huskey, Kathryn Sandercock, and Rachel Becker as part of the newcomers to AU Softball.
Muffley is a middle infielder from Florida State who made spectacular plays at shortstop for the Seminoles, including her leaping double play at the 2023 Women’s College World Series. In her senior year, she hit two home runs with six doubles, 25 RBI, and 31 runs scored.

Boccagno competed in her undergraduate years at Boston College before transferring to Arizona State as a graduate student. In her fifth year as a catcher for the Sun Devils, she started in 26 games and logged a .699 OPS.

Sutherlin is a righty pitcher out of Cal State Fullerton. She appeared in 37 games, making 32 starts, and led the Titans with a 20-11 Record. Sutherlin finished with a 1.64 ERA in 200.2 innings pitched and recorded 242 strikeouts which was 9th in the nation. She pitched the 58th no-hitter in school history against CSUN.

Hammoude is a record-setting infielder from Oregon State. In 2023 she broke the Beavers’ career home run record when she hit her 53rd bomb on April 16. She played and started in all 45 games and earned All-Pac 12 Third Team honors in her redshirt senior year.
