Madi Kingdon Rishel
Biography
Personal: Kingdon graduated from Arizona with a degree in sports management and marketing. She has a pet cat named Stuart and credits her club coach, Terri Spann, as a major influence in her life. Her hobbies include crafting, doing her own nails, hiking, rollerblading, and biking. Kingdon is excited about playing her first professional season in the United States since her college days. In high school, she was named Gatorade Arizona Player of the Year and Arizona Republic Player of the Year.
Other Professional Experience: Kingdon has played professionally since 2015, most recently competing with Popsivo Polwan in Indonesia. She also played for Chieri ‘76 in Italy during the 2023-24 season and spent four seasons with Turkish Airlines in the Turkish league. Additionally, Kingdon has played professionally in Azerbaijan, South Korea, and China.
International Experience: Kingdon was a member of the United States National Team from 2016-22. She helped Team USA secure Gold medals in the 2018 and 2019 VNL (Volleyball Nations League) and the 2017 Pan American Cup, as well as a Bronze medal in the 2016 Pan American Cup. She also earned a Bronze medal at the 2017 World Grand Champions Cup and guided Team USA to another Gold at the 2019 Pan American Cup. She was also part of the U.S. A2 Team in 2011-12.
At Arizona: A four-year letter winner at Arizona, Kingdon ranks third in school history with 129 career matches from 2011-14 and fourth with 451 career sets played. She is second in Arizona history with 1,943 kills and fourth with 1,366 digs. Kingdon holds the school record for 10 or more kills in 111 career matches and set a single-season program record for double-digit kills in 34 matches during her senior year. She recorded 20 or more kills in a match 27 times, placing her third in Arizona history, and holds both the single-season and career records for attack attempts. Kingdon earned AVCA All-America honors twice, including Third-Team status as a senior, and Second-Team All-America by Volleyball Magazine. She was a two-time All-Pac 12 Conference honoree and started all 39 matches as a senior, posting 634 kills, the second-highest single-season total in Arizona history. She added 421 digs, ranking seventh on Arizona's single-season list, with 70 total blocks and 22 service aces. Kingdon registered 20 or more kills in 11 matches, including a career-best 33 kills against BYU, and posted 18 double-doubles. She also amassed a season-high 34 digs against Washington State and 36.5 points against BYU. As a junior, Kingdon started all 34 matches and posted 508 kills with a career-high 378 digs, earning AVCA All-America Honorable Mention, AVCA All-Region, and All-Pac-12 honors. She also notched 79 total blocks and a career-high 36 service aces. Kingdon recorded 19 double-doubles, including a season-high 24 kills against Oregon. As a sophomore, she tallied 426 kills and led Arizona’s defense with 307 digs while contributing 48 total blocks. She earned All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention and reached double-digit kills in 26 of 31 matches. Kingdon was named to the Pac-12 All-Freshman Team in 2011, recording 358 kills and 248 digs.
