Hannah Borden
Biography
Personal: Borden is the daughter of Craig and Ruth Borden and is one of four children in her family. Her favorite food is burritos, her favorite TV show is "The Office," and she lists "Hairspray" as her favorite movie. Her hobbies include cooking, reading, and playing pickleball, and her favorite book is "The Help." She has a cat named Kitty and lists her high school coach, Taylor Burt, and her college hitting coach, Aaron Longenecker, as people who have made a difference in her life. Growing up, she was involved in volleyball, basketball, and bowling. Her proudest accomplishment is setting the home run record at Southern Miss. Borden also knows how to juggle and chose to wear No. 43 since it was the first number she wore when she was six years old.
At Southern Miss: Borden was a five-year letter winner at Southern Miss, starting 222 out of 224 games from 2020 to 2024. She authored a .313 batting average and set a school record with 50 home runs. Borden ranks second in program history with 150 career runs batted in, including a career-high 47 RBIs as a graduate student. She totaled 208 career hits, including 38 doubles and one triple, while drawing 109 walks. A solid defensive player, she finished her career with a .986 fielding percentage, including a career-best .996 mark as a junior.
As a graduate student, Borden garnered First-Team All-Sun Belt Conference distinction and collected Third-Team NFCA All-South Region laurels after belting a program-record and conference-leading 18 home runs. She also led the Sun Belt with a .775 slugging percentage. During her final season at Southern Miss, she fashioned a .377 batting average with a career-best 61 hits, including nine doubles. She registered 16 multi-hit games and hit two home runs in a game twice. Borden served as the Golden Eagles’ catcher during every inning of the season.
During her senior year, Borden started all 46 games and posted a .324 batting average. She accumulated a team-high 46 hits, including 11 doubles and 11 home runs, while driving in 28 runs. She hit three home runs against South Alabama on April 28, 2023. In her junior campaign, she earned a starting assignment in 51 out of 52 games, leading the Golden Eagles with nine home runs and 31 RBIs. As a sophomore, she paced the team with nine home runs while being the only Southern Miss player to appear in all 53 contests, ranking second on the squad with 21 RBIs and 70 total bases while contributing 37 hits.
As a freshman during the COVID-shortened 2020 season, Borden was the only freshman to start all 22 games. She led the Golden Eagles with 23 RBIs and ranked second on the team with 23 hits, including three home runs.
