Personal: Mastroianni majored in media and journalism with a focus on advertising and public relations, as well as communication studies at North Carolina. She earned her Master's degree at North Carolina's Hussman School of Journalism and Media in strategic communication. Her graduate thesis, titled "Growing the Game, (L)across(e) the World," explores ways to incorporate corporate social responsibility and philanthropy to help make the game of lacrosse more diverse, accessible, and inclusive worldwide. Mastroianni was a Tournament of Champions winner during her time at Bridgewater-Raritan High School. Her brother, Ray, played lacrosse at Lehigh, while her mother, Carol, played field hockey at Eastern Kentucky University, and her father, Dan, played college football at Moravian. Mastroianni was born in Martinsville, N.J. In her free time, she enjoys volunteering, traveling, spending time at the beach, golfing, cooking, and coaching. As a child, she played field hockey, basketball, softball, and lacrosse.
2022 Season: Mastroianni started all 12 games and finished third on the leaderboard with 1,399 points. She ranked fifth in the league with 394 stat points and seventh with 105 MVP points. Mastroianni was the sixth-leading scorer in the league with 19 goals and also contributed 10 assists. She scored at least one goal in 11 out of 12 games, including three hat tricks. Her season-high came in the season finale against Team Glynn, where she scored four goals. Mastroianni also had three goals and an assist against Team Moreno on August 13. She started her professional career with three goals and an assist against Team Apuzzo on July 21. Mastroianni began Week Two with three caused turnovers against Team Johansen, earning a season-high 200 leaderboard points. She was one of 15 players selected in the Athletes Unlimited Lacrosse College Draft.
International Experience: Mastroianni represented Team USA at the 2022 World Lacrosse Women's World Championship. In eight games, she tallied four goals and three assists, helping Team USA win its fourth consecutive title. Mastroianni set a tournament record with 38 draw controls, including seven draws against Canada in the Gold Medal Game. She ranked fifth in the tournament in draw controls.
At North Carolina: Mastroianni earned five letters and started 73 out of 89 games from 2018-2022. She finished her career as one of the most decorated midfielders in program history. Mastroianni scored 117 goals with 23 assists, including a career-best 48 goals as a graduate student in 2022. She also contributed a school-record 360 draw controls, along with 65 ground balls and 38 caused turnovers. Mastroianni was a starter in 70 out of 71 games over her final four seasons. She led the Tar Heels to the 2022 NCAA Championship with a perfect 22-0 record. Mastroianni was a consensus First-Team All-America selection by the IWLCA, Inside Lacrosse, and USA Lacrosse Magazine in her final two seasons. She was also recognized as one of five finalists for the 2022 Tewaaraton Award and one of four finalists for the 2022 Honda Award for Lacrosse. Mastroianni was honored as the 2021 and 2022 Atlantic Coast Conference Midfielder of the Year and the 2022 IWLCA National Midfielder of the Year. She led the Tar Heels and ranked sixth in the ACC with 116 draw controls during the 2022 campaign. Mastroianni served as a team captain for the Tar Heels, as well as their community outreach representative. She was a member of North Carolina's Student-Athlete Advisory Council and received the 2021 Weaver-James-Corrigan Postgraduate Scholarship Award. Mastroianni was also the recipient of the 2022 Mildred McCaskill Award and a four-time All-ACC Academic Team selection. She won the 2022 Leader of Distinction Award.
