Biography
Personal: Tessa Grubbs earned her bachelor’s degree in therapeutic recreation at Tennessee in 2019. She once participated in competitive Irish dancing while living in Belgium.
Other Professional Experience: Tessa Grubbs played for Nova KBM Branik in the Slovenian league during the 2019-20 season. She then joined Municipal Olympique Mougins Volley-Ball for the 2020-21 campaign and Volley-Ball Nantes in 2021-22 in the French League. Tessa Grubbs was named Best Scorer after the 2020-21 campaign in Ligue A. She was a member of Viteos NUC in Switzerland for the 2022-23 season, earning Swiss League MVP, Best Scorer, and Best Server honors. Tessa Grubbs played for Atlanta during the inaugural 2025 League One Volleyball season, where she totaled 87 kills with 35 digs and nine total blocks.
At Tennessee: Tessa Grubbs appeared in 377 sets over 101 matches at Tennessee from 2016-19. She was an AVCA and Volleyball Magazine All-America Honorable Mention selection as a junior, who also claimed AVCA All-Region and All-Southeastern Conference honors. Tessa Grubbs was a 2016 SEC All-Freshman Team honoree. She totaled 1,413 kills with 216 digs and 170 total blocks. Tessa Grubbs played in 108 sets over 28 matches as a senior in 2019, tallying 438 kills, 42 digs, and 42 total blocks. She reached 10 kills in 26 of 28 matches, including 20 or more kills in seven outings. Tessa Grubbs set a season high with 29 kills in the season opener against Illinois. She appeared in 28 matches as a junior, finishing with 453 kills, which ranked fourth in program history during the rally-scoring era. Tessa Grubbs was also named to the GW Invitational All-Tournament Team after averaging 4.11 kills per set in three matches. She put down three service aces with 12 kills against Georgia.
