Biography
Personal: Heydi Casanova enjoys playing video games. She was involved in music as a child growing up. Heydi Casanova models her game after Regla Torres. She owns a dachshund named Kimchi. Heydi Casanova can also speak Spanish and Portuguese. She names Dragutin Baltic, her first coach as a pro, as someone who has made a difference in her life. Heydi Casanova used to compete in track & field in javelin and the 100-meter dash.
2024 Season: Heydi Casanova compiled 1,564 leaderboard points in her first Athletes Unlimited Pro Volleyball season. She totaled 1,400 win points and appeared in 18 sets over eight matches. Heydi Casanova finished with 26 kills and 42 digs. She also contributed six solo blocks and four service aces. Heydi Casanova was one of four players to post 20 or more digs in a match. She registered 24 digs with nine kills against Team De La Cruz-Mejía on October 25. Heydi Casanova matched her season high with nine kills against Team Abercrombie on October 27. She added nine digs against Team Abercrombie on November 1. Heydi Casanova posted 100 or more leaderboard points in nine matches, including a season-high 224 points against Team Member-Meneh on October 28.
Other Professional Experience: Heydi Casanova has been playing professionally since 2014. She played for CSO Voluntari 2005 in Romania during the 2024 season. Heydi Casanova was a member of Beijing BAIC Motor in China and Bolu BLD in Turkey in 2023. She competed for SC Prometey in Ukraine and Volero Le Cannet in France. Heydi Casanova also spent one season with CSM Targoviste (Romania), Osasco Audax (Brazil), Volero le Cannet (France), and Le-Cannet (France). She was a member of Salt Lake during the inaugural 2025 League One Volleyball season. Heydi Casanova tallied 137 kills, 81 digs, and nine blocks across 16 matches. She registered a pair of double-doubles, including 22 kills and 11 digs against Atlanta in the season opener on January 8.
International Experience: Heydi Casanova was a member of the Cuban National Team from 2014-17. She played in the 2014 Senior World Cup. Heydi Casanova also participated in the 2015 Pan American Games with Team Cuba along with the 2015 Senior World Games. She competed in the 2016 World Grand Prix and the 2016 Pan American Cup. Heydi Casanova was honored as Best Opposite Hitter at the 2017 Pan American Cup.
