Gia Day

Personal: Day studied entrepreneurship and corporate innovation at Baylor. Her mother, Gina Milana, played softball and basketball at the University of Detroit. Gia has a cat named Mojito and grew up playing basketball and softball in addition to volleyball. Her hobbies include reading, hiking, and picnicking on Michigan’s beautiful lakes. She also speaks Italian and French.

Other Professional Experience: Day spent the 2024 summer season with Pertamina Enduro in Indonesia, following her 2023-24 campaign with the Red Sparks in South Korea. She has also played two seasons in Italy, appeared for Sanjuaneras in Puerto Rico in 2021, and played for Venelles in France’s top league during the 2020-21 season.

International Experience: Day was a member of the 2016 United States Collegiate National Team.

College Experience: Day played two seasons at Baylor (2018-19) after transferring from Maryland (2016-17). During her time at Baylor, she appeared in 59 matches, registering 449 kills, 109 digs, and 81 total blocks. She earned Second-Team All-Big 12 Conference honors as a senior. In 2019, Day played in 31 matches, contributing 241 kills and helping guide the Bears to a Big 12 Championship and an NCAA semifinals appearance. As a junior, she started 22 matches and collected 208 kills. Prior to Baylor, she played two seasons at Maryland, starting all 64 matches. As a sophomore, she led Maryland with an average of 3.14 kills per set and recorded eight double-doubles, while as a freshman, she earned Honorable Mention All-Big Ten and Big Ten All-Freshman Team honors after tallying a career-high 446 kills.
