Entering Friday evening, only 234 points separated the top 5 positions on the leaderboard, making for a close race to Championship Sunday. Team Cummings didn’t let up on any of the win points on the line as they swept Team Ohlmiller for 125 points in a 13-6 win. Taylor Cummings, who sits in the No. 1 spot on the leaderboard, scored three goals and was named MVP 1 for 226 points in the matchup.

Here’s the recap from Team Cummings’ overwhelming win over Team Ohlmiller.

The final weekend of competition got underway in a hurry as Sam Apuzzo put Team Cummings on the board six seconds into the first quarter, scoring the fastest goal in Athletes Unlimited Lacrosse history.

Ally Kennedy, who was selected first in the Week 5 Draft, tied things up, but Marie McCool scored two goals to put Team Cummings back ahead and win the 20 win points for the first quarter, 3-1.

Team Cumming’s defense held Team Ohlmiller’s offense stagnant throughout most of the second quarter, while Apuzzo and and Lindsey Ronbeck tallied two more for their team. Captain Kylie Ohlmiller broke her team’s 14+ minute scoring drought with just over 20 seconds to play from an impossible angle that somehow found the net.

Ohlmiller scored again to open the third quarter, but opposing captain Cummings answered with her first goal of the game and Mollie Stevens scored shortly after to make it 7-3.

McCool scored her third goal of the night for her fourth hat trick of the season and extend Team Cumming’s lead to 9-4. Britt Read, who started in goal for Team Cummings, held Team Ohlmiller from adding another before the end of the quarter.

Cummings and Ohlmiller each secured their own hat tricks to start the fourth quarter. Apuzzo sealed the deal with Team Cummings as she also finished off her hat trick with a 2-point goal, making it 13-6.

Mira Shane, who made eight saves for Team Ohlmiller, was named MVP 2 (+30) and tallied 72 points overall. Ohlmiller was named MVP 3 for 15 additional points, scoring four of the six goals by her team. She finished with 57 points.
