Brittany Abercrombie, Kaz Brown win PVF Championship with Orlando Valkyries
The Orlando Valkyries capped off a remarkable worst-to-first turnaround by capturing the 2025 BIC Soleil PVF Championship with a 3-1 win over the Indy Ignite on Sunday night. While the entire Valkyries roster played with grit and determination all season, several Athletes Unlimited Pro Volleyball players were at the heart of this championship run.
Leading the charge was Brittany Abercrombie, who followed up her PVF Regular Season MVP award with a record-breaking performance in the title match. The 2024 AU Pro Volleyball Champion put up a jaw-dropping 31 points, including 27 kills on a .387 hitting percentage, three blocks, eight digs, and one ace. Her ability to take over matches in critical moments has become her staple, and this final was no exception.
Orlando setter and PVF newcomer Pornpun Guedpard was named Championship MVP after notching a double-double with 37 assists and 12 digs. The dynamic playmaker was also named to the PVF All-League First Team, and her seamless transition into the U.S. pro circuit shows just how global the talent pool is becoming. With AU Pro Volleyball on the horizon, Guedpard will be one to watch.
The Valkyries’ front row was anchored by AU standouts Kaz Brown and Lindsey Vander Weide. Brown, coming off a career-high seven-block performance in the semifinals, added 10 kills, three blocks, three digs, and an ace in the final. Vander Weide was a wall at the net with a team-leading five blocks, while also chipping in nine kills, six digs, and an ace. AU Pro athlete M’Kaela White also made her mark, scoring a kill on a solo attempt and bringing consistent energy off the bench.
Orlando’s championship story is one of resilience and momentum. After finishing tied for last in the PVF’s inaugural season, the Valkyries completely flipped the script in 2025, finishing 18-10 in the regular season and knocking off the No. 2 seed Atlanta Vibe to reach the final. Their edge? Energy. From the first whistle to the last point, the Valkyries set the tone early, riding that spark through a gritty postseason run.
The PVF season may be over, but the journey continues. These athletes will now shift their focus to offseason training, with eyes set on the AU Pro Volleyball season this fall. As the Valkyries proved, it’s not how you start, it’s how you finish.
