Meghan Ball
Biography
Personal: Ball was a three-sport athlete in high school. She also competed in soccer and basketball. In basketball, she earned two All-Division awards.
2024 Season: Ball was one of 16 players selected in the Athletes Unlimited Pro Lacrosse College Draft.
At Maryland: Ball started in all 20 games as a graduate student at Maryland after transferring from Rutgers. She was a First-Team Inside Lacrosse and IWLCA All-America selection, leading the Terrapins with 37 ground balls and 40 caused turnovers. She also garnered Second-Team All-America notice from USA Lacrosse Magazine. Ball ranked second on the squad with 77 draw controls and was a First-Team All-Big Ten Conference and IWLCA All-Mid-Atlantic Region recipient. Notably, she notched a season-high eight draw controls against William & Mary, and posted five caused turnovers against Penn State and Rutgers. She also scooped up a season-high five ground balls at Denver and at Michigan.
At Rutgers: Ball was a four-year letter winner at Rutgers who started all 63 career games from 2020-23. She graduated as the Scarlet Knights’ career leader with 154 caused turnovers and 308 draw controls. A three-time Inside Lacrosse All-America performer for the Scarlet Knights, including Second-Team notice as a senior, Ball also collected a pair of USA Lacrosse Magazine All-America certificates. Additionally, she was a unanimous First-Team All-Big Ten selection as a junior and senior. Ball was honored as the 2023 Big Ten Defender of the Year after pacing the conference in caused turnovers per game (3.53) and ground balls per game (3.00). She reset her own Rutgers single-season record with 60 caused turnovers as a senior. Ball also led the Scarlet Knights with 101 draw controls and 51 ground balls in 2023.
As a junior, Ball was a Second-Team All-America honoree by the IWLCA after leading NCAA Division I with 64 ground balls, and she also ranked second in the country with 54 caused turnovers over 21 games. She paced the Scarlet Knights in draw controls, ground balls, and caused turnovers as a sophomore, earning Second-Team IWLCA All-Region recognition. Ball guided Rutgers to its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1999 and collected a school-record 13 draw controls against Drexel in the Scarlet Knights’ first-ever NCAA Tournament victory. She ranked third in the Big Ten with 22 ground balls during her COVID-shortened freshman campaign.
