Ally Kennedy

Personal: Kennedy was named an assistant women’s lacrosse coach at the University of Virginia. She studied business management at Stony Brook. Her older sister, Cori, also played lacrosse at Stony Brook, and her older brother, Brian, played lacrosse at American International. Kennedy works as an assistant coach for the Long Island Yellow Jackets club lacrosse team. She has two boxer dogs named Rocky and Tyson. Kennedy lists her father, Mike, as a person who has made a difference in her life. If she wasn't playing lacrosse, she would be a singer. In high school, Kennedy also played soccer and participated in track and field. Her hobbies include going to the beach and spending time with her dogs. She started her lacrosse career by playing boys' lacrosse.

2023 Season: Kennedy earned 27th place in the final league standings with 910 leaderboard points. She compiled 105 MVP points to hold a share of fifth place in the league rankings with Izzy McMahon and Kenzie Kent. Kennedy was a four-time Game MVP honoree, including three MVP 2 commendations. She started in all 12 games and netted 15 goals with three assists. Additionally, she secured 22 ground balls with 31 draw controls and eight caused turnovers. Kennedy authored four multi-goal performances, posting three goals with an assist in her MVP 3 performance against Team Mastroianni in the Week One finale. She fashioned her second hat trick of the season in the Week Three opener against Team Bosco to earn MVP 2 distinction and scored two goals while adding three draw controls in the August 6 contest against Team Apuzzo for MVP 2 recognition. Moreover, Kennedy contributed two goals along with an assist and four ground balls against Team Bosco on August 12 and also tallied four ground balls with two caused turnovers to receive MVP 2 honors. She collected 100 or more leaderboard points in five games, including a season-high 154 points against Team Mastroianni in Week One.

2022 Season: Kennedy accumulated 740 leaderboard points, ranking fifth in the league with nine assists and contributing 13 goals. She also had 43 draw controls, including a season-high of 10 in Week Four against Team Johansen. Kennedy had five multi-goal games, including three goals in Week Two against Team Moreno.

2021 Season: Kennedy compiled 1,302 leaderboard points and scored at least one goal in the final 10 games. She tied for eighth in the league with 22 goals and contributed three assists. Kennedy set a season high with 141 leaderboard points against Team Ohlmiller on August 7. She had her first hat trick of the season in Week Three against Team Read and another hat trick on August 15 against Team Wood. Kennedy also set a season high with 10 shots against Team Waters on August 21. She was one of 13 players selected in the Athletes Unlimited Lacrosse Pro College Draft.

International Experience: Kennedy represented Team USA at the 2022 World Lacrosse Women's World Championship. She appeared in all eight games and scored 11 goals with one assist. Kennedy had three hat tricks in the first five games of the tournament and won a gold medal. 

At Stony Brook: Kennedy played for Stony Brook for five years and started in 87 of 88 games. She is second in program history with 266 career goals and has 63 assists. Kennedy also ranks second in career ground balls with 180 and draw controls with 343. She is fourth all-time with 329 career points and ninth in career assists. Kennedy scored 70 or more goals in a season twice and scored 85 goals in the 2019 season. She is one of five players in program history with 100 or more points in a single season, achieving that milestone in 2019 with 100 points. Kennedy had seven goals in a game three times during her college career. She received several accolades, including being named the 2021 IWLCA National Midfielder of the Year and earning First-Team IWLCA All-America honors in 2019 and 2021. She also received Second-Team IWLCA All-America recognition in 2018 and was a three-time selection as America East Conference Midfielder of the Year. Kennedy was named First-Team All-America East three times and Second-Team All-America East once. She was also a member of the 2017 America East All-Rookie Team and a two-time nominee for the Tewaaraton Award.
