Ellie Masera
Biography
Personal: Masera is the daughter of Susan and Ronald Masera and one of four children in her family. Her sister, Emily, plays lacrosse at Binghamton. Her cousin, Kaeli Huff, played lacrosse at Stony Brook in 2021 after transferring from USC. Another cousin, Kelsey Hull, played lacrosse at USC from 2018-2022 before competing in Athletes Unlimited Pro Lacrosse during the 2022 campaign. Masera's uncle, Scott Huff, played lacrosse at CW Post before a professional career with the New York Saints of the National Lacrosse League. Her uncle, Steven Huff, played college lacrosse at North Carolina before having a professional career with the New York Saints of the National Lacrosse League and the New York Lizards of Major League Lacrosse. Another cousin, Ryan Huff, played lacrosse at Penn State. Masera's uncle, Keith Huff, played football at Hofstra, and her aunt, Victoria Huff, played softball at North Carolina.
2024 Season: Masera was one of 16 players selected in the Athletes Unlimited Pro Lacrosse College Draft.
International Experience: Masera was a member of Team USA’s training team for 2022 World Lacrosse Women’s World Championship.
At Stony Brook: Masera was a four-year letter winner at Stony Brook and started 59 of 75 games for the Seawolves from 2021-2024. She finished her career with 317 points after scoring 232 goals with 85 assists. Masera was a First-Team IWLCA All-America performer and one of the five finalists for the 2024 Tewaaraton Award. She received First-Team All-America recognition as a junior and senior by USA Lacrosse Magazine, and also claimed Second-Team All-America accolades from IWLCA as a junior. Masera was a two-time Inside Lacrosse All-America recipient, earning First-Team recognition as a senior. As a senior, she was a First-Team IWLCA All-Mid-Atlantic Region performer and was honored as the 2023 and 2024 Coastal Athletic Association Midfielder of the Year. Masera was also a two-time First-Team All-CAA member. In her senior year, she led the CAA with 77 goals and 117 points, and ranked second in the league with 145 draw controls. She had an outstanding performance in the NCAA Tournament victory over Niagara, scoring six goals and providing four assists. As a junior, Masera led the CAA with 71 goals and 95 points, while also registering a .490 shooting percentage. She received the 2022 America East Conference Midfielder of the Year plaudits after leading the Seawolves with 67 goals and 20 assists. In 2021, she was a member of the America East All-Rookie Team, producing 17 goals and 13 ground balls while appearing in 18 games.
