Jacy Sheldon
Biography
Personal: Sheldon served as the director of player development for the Ohio State women’s basketball team during the 2024-25 season. She is the daughter of Duane and Laura Sheldon. Her father played basketball at Baldwin Wallace. Her mother competed on the track and field team at Baldwin Wallace. She is one of three children in her family. She was inducted into the Ohio High School Athletic Association Circle of Champions on May 7, 2025, after an outstanding scholastic career at Dublin Coffman High School. She set the school career scoring record with 2,347 points, including a school-record 52 points against Eastmoor Academy during her senior season. She was a two-sport athlete in high school who also earned All-State notice in volleyball.
Other Professional Experience: Sheldon is a two-year WNBA veteran after being selected with the No. 5 overall selection by the Dallas Wings in the 2024 WNBA Draft. She has averaged 6.3 points and 2.2 assists over 70 career games. She was a starter in 26 of 40 games with Dallas as a rookie who contributed 5.4 points per game. She netted six double-figure scoring efforts, including a season-high 17 points against Atlanta on July 5, 2024. Sheldon was acquired by the Connecticut Sun prior to the 2025 season. She saw action in 28 games with 17 starts before being traded to the Washington Mystics on August 7, 2025. She made two appearances off the bench with Washington.
At Ohio State: Sheldon was a five-year letter winner at Ohio State who started 118 of 130 games from 2019-24. She was a three-time captain who was selected to the 2024 USBWA All-America Team in addition to claiming Second-Team status on the 2024 Associated Press All-America squad. Sheldon garnered Honorable Mention notice on the 2022 Associated Press All-America Team. She is a three-time All-Big Ten Conference honoree who earned unanimous First-Team recognition in 2022 and 2024. She also secured a Second-Team All-Big Ten nod in 2023. She is a two-time member of the Big Ten All-Defensive Team. She is the sixth-leading scorer in school history with 2,024 career points. She is fourth on the Buckeyes’ career free throw percentage list at .850. She also stands sixth in school history with 250 career steals. Sheldon tied the Ohio State single-game record with 11 steals at Boston College on November 13, 2022. She led the Buckeyes in scoring during three of her five seasons. She also paced Ohio State with a .486 field goal percentage during the 2020-21 campaign. She was a starter in all 32 games as a graduate student who ranked third in the Big Ten with a 17.8 scoring average. She also led the Buckeyes in three-pointers made, assists, and steals. She tallied 29 double-digit scoring outputs. She also totaled 13 games with 20 or more points. Sheldon started 10 of 13 games as a senior while helping Ohio State reach the NCAA Elite Eight for the first time in 30 years. She earned a starting assignment in all 32 games during her junior season. She averaged 19.7 points per game while registering 30 double-digit scoring performances. She also surpassed 20 points in a game 16 times during the 2021-22 campaign with four 30-point outbursts. She led the Buckeyes in scoring as a sophomore with a 16.7 clip. She was the only player to start all 20 games during the COVID-impacted season. She also recorded a team-best .486 field goal percentage. She appeared in all 33 games as a freshman with 24 starts. She ranked third on the team in scoring at 9.6 points per game while adding 44 made three-pointers.
