Dempsey Arsenault
Biography
Personal: Arsenault started playing lacrosse at the age of 10. She played three sports in high school, including hockey, field hockey, and lacrosse at New Hampton School. Her hobbies include running, yoga, spending time with friends and family, going to the beach, trying different coffee shops, and being outdoors. Arsenault credits Boston College women’s lacrosse coaches Acacia Walker-Weinstein and Jen Kent, as well as Syracuse head women’s lacrosse coach Kayla Treanor, as people who have made a difference in her life. She wears the number 18 in honor of her dad, Jamie, who wore the number during his college baseball career at Colby College. Arsenault also owns Dempsey Arsenault Lacrosse, a training business in San Diego.
2023 Season: Arsenault authored a sixth-place finish for the second year in a row after accumulating 1,241 leaderboard points. She ranked second in the league with 915 win points and also collected 266 stat points, placing her ninth among the league’s 57 players. Arsenault tied for the league lead with 12 assists, including seven helpers in the final four contests. She also netted 11 goals in 12 games and led all non-defensive players, tying for fifth overall in the league with 23 ground balls. Additionally, she ranked third in the league with 39 draw controls and posted three multi-goal efforts. Arsenault opened the season with two goals against Team Moreno on July 20 and earned MVP 2 distinction after scoring twice with two assists against Team Colson on July 29. She also collected two goals with two assists against Team Glynn on August 3 and secured MVP 2 honors on August 10 against Bosco after scoring a goal with a season-high three assists. Furthermore, she tallied six games with 100 or more leaderboard points, including a season-high 197 points in the Week Four opener against Team Bosco.
2022 Season: Arsenault started in all 12 games and finished sixth in the league with 1,375 leaderboard points. She ranked fourth in Athletes Unlimited with 960 win points and held eighth place in the league standings with 340 stat points. Arsenault achieved 100 or more leaderboard points eight times, with a season-high of 197 points against Team Glynn on August 13. She ranked 10th in the league with 17 goals and 24 points, tying for sixth place with seven assists. Arsenault scored at least one goal in 9 out of 12 games, including five multi-goal efforts. Her standout performance came in Week Three with four goals against Team Moreno. She also had three goals against Team Glynn on August 13 and recorded a season-high of five ground balls against Team Johansen in Week Three, along with scoring two goals.
2021 Season: Arsenault finished with 1,338 leaderboard points. She served as a captain three times, along with Kayla Wood and Kylie Ohlmiller. Arsenault held the top spot on the individual leaderboard and served as the league leaderboard leader on July 31 and August 7-8. She achieved 100 or more leaderboard points eight times, with a season-high of 195 points against Team Douty on July 25. Arsenault scored four goals with five assists in Week One, along with 10 draw controls and six ground balls. She ranked seventh in Athletes Unlimited Lacrosse with 31 draw controls and contributed 12 caused turnovers, tying for sixth in the league. Arsenault scored at least one goal in the first nine games of the season before missing the final two weeks due to injury. She had back-to-back hat tricks against Team Read on August 7 and Team Ohlmiller on August 8. Arsenault also had a season-high of six draw controls on August 8 against Team Ohlmiller, along with two caused turnovers and two ground balls. She earned a season-high three caused turnovers in consecutive games against Team Wood and Team Read.
International Experience: Arsenault represented Team USA at the 2022 World Lacrosse Women's World Championship. She scored six goals with one assist in eight appearances, leading Team USA to a fourth consecutive gold medal. Arsenault scored at least one goal in five games and had a two-goal performance in the semifinal victory over Australia. Arsenault was also one of 12 players named to the Team USA roster for the 2023 World Lacrosse Women’s Super Sixes Event.
Other Professional Experience: Arsenault earned a spot on the 2019 Women’s Professional Lacrosse League All-Star Team as a member of the Baltimore Brave. She scored 11 goals with seven assists and helped lead Baltimore to the league title. Arsenault was the No. 2 overall selection in the 2019 WPLL Draft by Baltimore and was named the WPLL Championship Game MVP.
At Boston College: Arsenault started all 90 games from 2016-2019. She registered 142 career goals with 73 assists and compiled 169 ground balls with 290 draw controls. Arsenault was nominated for the 2019 Tewaaraton and Honda Awards and was a two-time First-Team IWLCA All-America selection. She was named the 2019 IWLCA and Atlantic Coast Conference Midfielder of the Year and received IWLCA All-Region recognition three times. Arsenault was also selected to the NCAA Championship All-Tournament Team twice and was a two-time All-ACC pick. She ranks 10th in Boston College history with 215 career points, 12th in career goals, and eighth in career assists. Arsenault tallied 103 points as a junior, which is the eighth-highest mark in program history. She is one of six players to record at least 60 goals in a season at Boston College and holds two of the top five single-season draw control totals on the Eagles' list. Arsenault was honored as Boston College's Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2019.
