Sherridan Atkinson
Biography
Personal: Atkinson majored in law and society at Purdue. She is the daughter of Michael and Darleen Atkinson and owns a clothing brand called FittedTwenties. Atkinson teaches Bible study to inner-city at-risk youth and enjoys hobbies such as scrapbooking, reading, and content creation.
Other Professional Experience: Atkinson won a league championship with Panathinaikos and was named the Greek league MVP in 2023-24. She played for Nilufer in the 2022-23 season and won the French League and French Cup with Volero LeCanet in 2021-22. Atkinson also spent time with Galatasaray and Korea Hi-Pass.
International Experience: Atkinson was a member of the 2017 United States Women’s Collegiate National Team and part of the 2019 U.S. Women’s National training team.
At Purdue: Atkinson was a three-year letter winner at Purdue from 2016-18, appearing in 374 sets across 99 matches. She amassed 1,208 kills and 57 service aces while registering 234 total blocks, including 30 solo blocks. Atkinson earned two AVCA All-American honors, including a First-Team selection in her final season. She was a two-time All-Big Ten selection and an AVCA All-Northeast Region honoree in her last two seasons. As a redshirt senior in 2018, Atkinson led the Big Ten and ranked in the top 10 nationally with 546 kills, hitting .296. She also contributed 197 digs and 75 total blocks, finishing with a career-high 623.5 points. Atkinson reached double figures in kills in 30 of 33 matches, including 10 matches with at least 20 kills. She posted a career-high 32 kills on a .518 hitting percentage against Penn State, earning AVCA National Player of the Week honors. She also registered five kill-dig double-doubles, including a 26-kill and 14-dig performance against Wisconsin. In the 2017 season, Atkinson earned AVCA Third-Team All-America honors and Volleyball Magazine Honorable Mention All-America recognition. She registered 394 kills on a .322 hitting percentage, with 108 digs and 86 total blocks. Atkinson hit double-digit kills in 23 of 33 matches, with four matches featuring 20 or more kills. She tallied a season-high 22 kills against Wyoming and set a season-high with seven blocks against Utah in the NCAA Tournament. In her debut season with Purdue in 2016, Atkinson recorded 268 kills, 38 digs, and 73 total blocks. She posted double-figure kills 11 times, including a season-high 18 kills against Indiana with a .536 hitting percentage. Atkinson also played for Long Beach State in 2015, appearing in three matches after redshirting in 2014.
