Biography
Personal: Marlie Monserez earned her bachelor’s degree in marketing at Florida. She obtained a master’s degree in transformative coaching and leadership at UCLA. Marlie Monserez is the daughter of Mathew and Patty Monserez. Her older sisters, Allie and Madison, also played volleyball at Florida. Her uncle, Marty, played basketball at Butler and is a member of the school’s athletic hall of fame. Marlie Monserez models her game after her sister, Allie. She owns two goldendoodles named Maui and Layla. Marlie Monserez also competed in track and field, basketball, and water sports growing up. Her hobbies include going to the beach, making pottery, baking, and going for walks. She lists Florida coaches Dave Boos and Mary Wise, UCLA coach Jenny Johnson Jordan, and high school coach Tanya Jarvis Starret as influences on her career. Marlie Monserez wears No. 33 because her sisters wore No. 11 and No. 22 in college.
2024 Season: Marlie Monserez compiled 2,017 leaderboard points during her first Athletes Unlimited Pro Volleyball season. She was a two-time Match MVP selection who saw action in 29 sets over 13 matches. Marlie Monserez ranked fifth in the circuit with 202 assists. She also collected 13 kills, 81 digs, three service aces, and five solo blocks. Marlie Monserez surpassed 20 assists in six contests, including four matches with 30 or more assists. She tallied 35 assists with nine digs and a pair of solo blocks to garner MVP 3 honors against Team Valentin-Anderson in her AU debut on October 3. Marlie Monserez finished Week One with 25 assists and nine digs against Team De La Cruz-Mejía on October 7. She returned to the starting lineup against Team De La Cruz-Mejía on October 18 and dished out 30 assists with 15 digs. Other Professional Experience: Marlie Monserez guided Atlanta Vibe to a 19-5 record during the inaugural Pro Volleyball Federation season in 2024. She was a Second-Team All-PVF performer who ranked third in the league with a 10.59 assist-per-set average. Marlie Monserez totaled 784 assists, 51 kills, 233 digs, and 13 blocks while appearing in all 24 matches. She repeated as a Second-Team All-PVF selection during her second season with the Vibe in 2025. Marlie Monserez finished third in the league with 998 assists, 61 kills, 10 service aces, and 16 blocks. She set a league record in a three-set match with 46 assists against Omaha Supernovas on April 19. Marlie Monserez compiled 60 assists against Indy Ignite on February 16.
At Florida: Marlie Monserez was a four-year letter winner at Florida who started 92 of 120 matches from 2018-21. She was a two-time AVCA All-America selection, including a Second-Team pick as a senior. Marlie Monserez also collected Third-Team All-America plaudits from Volleyball Magazine in 2021. She earned a pair of AVCA All-Southeast Region selections. Marlie Monserez was a member of the 2021 All-Southeastern Conference Team. She ended her career fifth on the Gators’ all-time ledger with 3,689 assists. Marlie Monserez is one of two players in program history with 3,500 or more assists during the rally-scoring era. She added 8.78 assists per set, including a career-best 11.15 assist-per-set average in her final season. Marlie Monserez compiled 271 kills, including a career-high 96 kills as a senior. She also tallied 907 digs with 62 service aces and 175 total blocks. Marlie Monserez served as the team’s primary setter for three seasons. She was a starter in every match as a senior who played in all 106 sets during the 2021 campaign.
