Kayla Haneline
Biography
Personal: Haneline graduated from Northern Iowa with a degree in biology and business administration. She is the daughter of Kennon and Cheryl Haneline. Haneline has a pet turtle named Speedy and enjoys backpacking and hiking, reading good books, and traveling. She is currently in the process of creating her own company to assist current collegiate student-athletes in navigating the rules and regulations of recruiting and NIL.
Other Professional Experience: Haneline began her professional career with Vasas Obuda SC in Hungary. She spent the 2018-19 season with LP Kangasala before competing with LP Viesti in the Finnish league during the following season. Since 2020, she has played in Germany, and she spent the 2023-24 season with Allianz MTV Stuttgart.
International Experience: Haneline was selected to participate in the U.S. Collegiate National Team programs in 2014 and 2015. Additionally, she is a member of the U.S. Women’s National Team for both 2023 and 2024.
College Experience: During her college career at Northern Iowa from 2012 to 2016, Haneline appeared in 115 matches and saw action in 403 sets over five years. She earned First-Team All-Missouri Valley Conference and AVCA All-Region accolades for three consecutive years. Haneline finished her career with 1,137 kills, including a career-high of 420 kills during her junior year. In her senior season of 2016, she played in all 34 matches and 122 sets, earning First Team All-MVC honors and a spot on the AVCA All-Region Team. She recorded 372 kills with a .312 hitting percentage, notched 20 service aces, and recorded 77 digs. Haneline ranked second on her team with 103 total blocks, including 20 solo stops. She registered ten or more kills in 22 matches, with a season-high of 19 kills against Southern Illinois, achieving a .395 hitting percentage. Furthermore, she recorded at least one block in 33 of 34 contests and matched her season-high of six total blocks in four matches, including three times over a span of four contests in September. As a junior, she played in 34 matches, leading her team in kills (420), total blocks (135), and hitting percentage (.287). She earned First Team All-MVC honors and was recognized with AVCA Honorable Mention All-America notice. During her sophomore year, she recorded 338 kills, leading her team with 106 total blocks and a .287 hitting percentage, which earned her First Team All-MVC accolades for the first time. Haneline finished with ten or more kills in 17 matches and was named MVC Player of the Week after scoring 30 kills with a .448 hitting percentage against Missouri State and Wichita State. In her redshirt freshman year in 2013, she played in 15 matches, tallying seven kills and nine total blocks.
