Gabby Blossom
Biography
Personal: Blossom majored in psychology during her time at Penn State. She has one sister and enjoys spending her leisure time with friends and family, along with relishing moments at the beach. Her high school years also saw her actively participating in basketball, adding another dimension to her athletic journey.
2023 Season: Blossom was one of six athletes selected in the 2023 Athletes Unlimited Volleyball College Draft.
At Penn State: Blossom appeared in 382 sets across 113 matches during her time there. As a two-time Second-Team All-Big Ten Conference setter, she garnered four Big Ten Setter of the Week commendations. Her well-rounded skill set included accumulating 3,271 assists, 865 digs, and registering 106.0 total blocks. Blossom played a pivotal role in leading Penn State to four NCAA Tournament appearances. Notably, she earned Third-Team All-America recognition by the AVCA during her sophomore season, showcasing her ability to consistently provide 40 or more assists in 15 matches while starting all 33 contests. She shared the court with Kendall White and Nia Reed at Penn State.
At San Diego: Blossom spent four remarkable seasons at Penn State before making a transfer to San Diego for the 2022 campaign. Her graduate student year at San Diego earned her prestigious recognition, as she was awarded First-Team All-America honors by both the American Volleyball Coaches Association and VolleyballMag.com. Blossom's exceptional leadership guided San Diego to its first-ever NCAA semifinal appearance. Furthermore, she was honored with the title of AVCA Pacific South Region Player of the Year and was named West Coast Conference Setter of the Year. During her time with the Toreros in 2022, Blossom served as a starter in 33 matches. She made a significant impact, ranking 14th in NCAA Division I with 1,324 assists. Her remarkable assist tally stands as the seventh highest on San Diego's all-time single-season list. Notably, she was named the Most Outstanding Player at the NCAA Stanford Regional, following a career-high performance with 64 assists in a five-set victory over Stanford in the national quarterfinals. Her contributions were instrumental in San Diego setting a school record with a .285 team hitting percentage during the 2022 campaign. Blossom played alongside Katie Lukes at San Diego.
