Recap: Team Harris Surges Past Team Bradford 87-81

NASHVILLE — Six players reached double figures for Team Harris, including a team-high 15 points from guard Lexie Brown, as Team Harris downed Team Bradford, 87-81, in the nightcap of Wednesday’s Athletes Unlimited Pro Basketball doubleheader at Nashville Municipal Auditorium

Brown, who claimed MVP 1 honors for the fifth time in her career, made 7-of-12 shots from the floor and grabbed seven rebounds to earn 581 leaderboard points in the victory.

Guard Rebecca Harris garnered MVP 3 accolades and a career-high 484 leaderboard points after pouring in a season-high 14 points with three rebounds and a pair of steals for Team Harris.

Guard Bria Hartley dropped in 18 points on 7-of-18 shooting from the field with four rebounds, four assists and a steal for Team Bradford to earn MVP 2 plaudits. The former UConn product gained 248 leaderboard points.

Captain Tyasha Harris added 13 points with six rebounds and four assists in her squad’s victory, while guard Christyn Williams and center Elizabeth Williams each pitched in 12 points to go with 11 rebounds from forward Theresa Plaisance.

Making her debut as a team captain, guard Crystal Bradford finished with her second double-double of the season with 25 points and a career-high 18 rebounds.

KEY MOMENT

Team Harris trailed by a 39-30 margin with 3:05 left in the second quarter before exploding for 17 consecutive points to take a 47-39 lead with 7:46 left in the third period. Team Bradford answered with an eight-point spurt of its own to even the score at 47-all, but another 15-6 outburst allowed Team Harris to reclaim the advantage.

LEADERBOARD IMPACT

Brown stands in second place on the Week Two leaderboard after her 581-point effort on Wednesday, while Elizabeth Williams moved up to the No. 4 position for the week. Tyasha Harris jumped to second in the overall standings and trails by just 74 points behind Maddy Siegrist, who sits atop the season leaderboard with 1,962 total points.

NOTES OF INTEREST

Bradford and Harris made their debuts as Athletes Unlimited Pro Basketball captains on Wednesday night … Captains now stand 11-11 all-time in their first game as a team leader in the league’s four-year history.
Bradford authored her 17th double-digit scoring output in 19 career AU Pro Basketball games, including her fourth instance this season … She has scored in double figures in each of her last seven games going back to the 2023 campaign.
Bradford, who owns seven career 20-point affairs following Wednesday’s performance, fashioned the 10th double-double of her Athletes Unlimited Pro Basketball career.
Bradford became the first AU Pro Basketball player to score at least 20 points and grab 15 or more rebounds in the same game since March 18, 2023, when NaLyssa Smith tallied 23 points with 18 rebounds against Team Bell.
Rebecca Harris authored the eighth double-digit scoring performance of her career … It also marked the first time she has tallied 10 or more points in a game since February 16, 2022, when she netted 13 points against Team Hawkins.
Plaisance posted the seventh double-digit rebounding effort of her career, including the second instance this season.
Guard Jaylyn Sherrod reached double figures for the second time this season after ending the night with 11 points.
Forward Dorie Harrison finished in double figures for the first time in her AU Pro Basketball career after producing 11 points off the bench in the loss for Team Bradford … Her previous career high was eight points, which she achieved in two contests.
Bradford became the fifth player in AU Pro Basketball history to surpass 200 career rebounds following her career-high 18 boards on Wednesday night … She missed tying the league single-game record by just one carom.
Rebecca Harris captured Game MVP honors for the second time in her career, including the first time since earning MVP 1 accolades on January 29, 2022, against Team Russell.
