Recap: Team Harris Surges Past Team Bradford 87-81
NASHVILLE — Six players reached double figures for Team Harris, including a team-high 15 points from guard Lexie Brown, as Team Harris downed Team Bradford, 87-81, in the nightcap of Wednesday’s Athletes Unlimited Pro Basketball doubleheader at Nashville Municipal Auditorium
Brown, who claimed MVP 1 honors for the fifth time in her career, made 7-of-12 shots from the floor and grabbed seven rebounds to earn 581 leaderboard points in the victory.
Guard Rebecca Harris garnered MVP 3 accolades and a career-high 484 leaderboard points after pouring in a season-high 14 points with three rebounds and a pair of steals for Team Harris.
Guard Bria Hartley dropped in 18 points on 7-of-18 shooting from the field with four rebounds, four assists and a steal for Team Bradford to earn MVP 2 plaudits. The former UConn product gained 248 leaderboard points.
Captain Tyasha Harris added 13 points with six rebounds and four assists in her squad’s victory, while guard Christyn Williams and center Elizabeth Williams each pitched in 12 points to go with 11 rebounds from forward Theresa Plaisance.
Making her debut as a team captain, guard Crystal Bradford finished with her second double-double of the season with 25 points and a career-high 18 rebounds.
KEY MOMENT
Team Harris trailed by a 39-30 margin with 3:05 left in the second quarter before exploding for 17 consecutive points to take a 47-39 lead with 7:46 left in the third period. Team Bradford answered with an eight-point spurt of its own to even the score at 47-all, but another 15-6 outburst allowed Team Harris to reclaim the advantage.
LEADERBOARD IMPACT
Brown stands in second place on the Week Two leaderboard after her 581-point effort on Wednesday, while Elizabeth Williams moved up to the No. 4 position for the week. Tyasha Harris jumped to second in the overall standings and trails by just 74 points behind Maddy Siegrist, who sits atop the season leaderboard with 1,962 total points.
