Sims and Bell Bounce Back With Big Performances in Week 15 of WNBA Play
For Odyssey Sims and Kierstan Bell, Week 15 was a chance to shake off a lull and remind everyone what they can do when given the minutes. Sims, back in a Fever uniform on a second seven-day hardship contract, led Indiana with 19 points, seven assists, and four rebounds across a team-high 42 minutes in Sunday’s 99-93 win over the Sun.
She moved into the starting lineup for Lexie Hull and delivered a season-best seven assists, fitting right in with the injury-depleted Fever. Sims is averaging 15.0 points, 5.0 assists, and 3.0 rebounds over her past two outings and should continue to see heavy minutes until Caitlin Clark returns. She’ll soon be joined by AU teammate Shey Peddy, who signed a seven-day hardship contract following Sophie Cunningham’s injury.
Bell, meanwhile, was on fire for the Las Vegas Aces in Sunday’s 106-87 win over the Wings. The 25-year-old guard tallied 18 points (6-7 FG, 6-7 3Pt), six rebounds, one assist, and one steal across 28 minutes. After shooting just 20.5 percent over her previous eight games, Bell hit a career-best six three-pointers and posted her second double-digit scoring game of the season. Her nine starts in the last 10 outings and career-high minutes show she’s finding her rhythm again.
