Marlie Monserez
Biography
Personal: Monserez earned her bachelor’s degree in marketing at Florida and completed her master’s degree in transformative coaching and leadership at UCLA. She comes from a family of volleyball players, with her older sisters Allie and Madison both playing at Florida as well. Her uncle, Marty Monserez, was a basketball player at Butler and is a member of the school’s athletic hall of fame. Monserez models her game after her sister, Allie. She enjoys spending time with her two Goldendoodles, Maui and Layla, and lists beach outings, pottery, baking, and walking as her hobbies. She chose to wear No. 33 because her sisters wore No. 11 and No. 22 in college.
Other Professional Experience: Monserez played a pivotal role in guiding the Atlanta Vibe to a 19-5 record during the inaugural Pro Volleyball Federation season in 2024. She earned Second-Team All-PVF honors, ranking third in the league with an impressive 10.59 assists-per-set average. Monserez totaled 784 assists, 51 kills, 233 digs, and 13 blocks while playing in all 24 matches.
College Experience: Monserez was a four-year letter winner at the University of Florida, starting in 92 of the 120 matches she played from 2018-21. She was a two-time AVCA All-America selection, including earning Second-Team honors as a senior. Monserez also received Third-Team All-America honors from Volleyball Magazine in 2021 and was a two-time AVCA All-Southeast Region selection. She ranks fifth all-time at Florida with 3,689 career assists, one of only two players in the program’s rally-scoring era to achieve more than 3,500 assists. During her senior year, she played in all 106 sets, leading the Gators with 1,182 assists, a career-high 96 kills, and an 11.15 assists-per-set average. Monserez also tallied 23 service aces and ranked second on the team with 277 digs. She notched 40 or more assists in 11 matches and had 11 double-doubles during the season. In addition to her indoor career, Monserez spent two years on the beach volleyball team at UCLA, compiling a 48-17 career record. In her final season in 2023, she achieved a 27-5 mark, including a 22-5 record against ranked opponents.
