Biography
Personal: Madi Bugg studied political science at Stanford. Madi Bugg participated in the Harvard Crossover into Business program in Fall 2024. Madi Bugg is the daughter of Robin and Dick Bugg. Her mother was a three-time All-Conference middle blocker at the University of Tennessee who was inducted into the school’s Athletic Hall of Fame in 2004. Madi Bugg was inducted into Cardinal Gibbons High School’s Athletics Hall of Fame in 2023. Madi Bugg has a younger brother named Logan and a sister named Avery. Madi Bugg also competed in soccer, baseball, basketball, and swimming while growing up. Her other hobbies include reading, traveling, and being outdoors. Madi Bugg served as a stunt double in a volleyball documentary made in China.
2024 Season: Madi Bugg tallied 2,411 leaderboard points to finish in 16th place during her first Athletes Unlimited Pro Volleyball season. Madi Bugg amassed 1,460 win points and 100 MVP points after receiving three Match MVP selections. Madi Bugg played in 30 sets across 12 matches. Madi Bugg ranked fourth in the league with 307 assists. Madi Bugg tallied 89 digs while adding six solo blocks. Madi Bugg surpassed 20 assists during nine matches, including four consecutive outings with 35 or more assists from October 25-November 1. Other Professional Experience: Madi Bugg has played professionally overseas since 2016. Madi Bugg won the 2023-24 Champion’s League, Italian League, Italian Cup, and SuperCup with Prosecco Doc Imoco Volley Conegliano in Serie A1 in Italy in 2023-24. Madi Bugg played a pair of seasons at ASPTT Mullhouse. Madi Bugg spent one season each with Viteos Nuc, Dresdner SC, Allianz MTV Stuttgart, Roma Volleyball Club, and MOYA Radomka Lotnisko Warszawa-Radom. Madi Bugg was a member of the Austin team during League One Volleyball’s inaugural season. Madi Bugg compiled 397 assists and 125 digs in all 24 matches. Madi Bugg posted a season-high 49 assists against Salt Lake on March 15.
At Stanford: Madi Bugg was a four-year starter at Stanford from 2012-15 who ranks second on the Cardinal’s all-time ledger with 5,014 assists. Madi Bugg also holds eighth place in school history with 121 career service aces. Madi Bugg finished her career with 1,141 digs. Madi Bugg garnered three All-America selections. Madi Bugg was a three-time Pac-12 Conference Setter of the Year honoree who also contributed 317 kills and 267 total blocks.
