Biography
Personal: Clarie Chaussee is the daughter of Howie and Vicki Chaussee. She majored in sports administration at Louisville in addition to getting her master’s degree in business administration. Clarie Chaussee lists her sister, Emily, as a person she models her game after. Her boyfriend, Davis, plays professional hockey for the Orlando Solar Bears. Clarie Chaussee named former Louisville head volleyball coach Dani Busboom Kelly as a mentor. She would be a wedding photographer if she was not playing volleyball. Clarie Chaussee also competed in soccer as a child. She enjoys photography and spending time outdoors. Clarie Chaussee lists Criminal Minds as her favorite TV show. Her favorite foods are wings and ribs. Her favorite professional team is the Green Bay Packers. Clarie Chaussee owns a dog named Maverick. She looks forward to having fun this season and playing for her cause.
2023 Season: Clarie Chaussee earned a 10th place finish in league standings after accruing 2,939 leaderboard points during her first Athletes Unlimited season. She was one of two outside hitters named to the All-Position Team. Clarie Chaussee ranked fourth in the league with 1,659 stat points. She also ranked fifth in the circuit with 260 MVP points after receiving five Match MVP awards. Clarie Chaussee was one of six players in the league to accumulate 400 or more leaderboard points in a match during the season. She posted five double-doubles during her rookie campaign and appeared in 44 sets over 15 matches. Clarie Chaussee ranked second in the league with 222 kills. She paced the circuit with 637 attack attempts and 370 reception attempts. Clarie Chaussee ranked 11th in the league with 114 digs. She registered 10 or more kills in eight consecutive matches from October 13-29, including two outings with 20 or more kills. Clarie Chaussee matched the Athletes Unlimited Volleyball single-match record with 27 kills against Team Edmond in the Week Four opener. She also recorded 11 digs to finish with 347 leaderboard points in an MVP 1 performance. Clarie Chaussee opened the season with MVP 1 honors against Team Valentin-Anderson after posting 16 kills with 11 digs. She started Week Two with an MVP 1 outing against Team Edmond with 24 kills and a .380 hitting percentage to finish with a season-high 425 leaderboard points. Clarie Chaussee received her second consecutive MVP 1 award on October 15 with 13 kills and 12 digs against Team Linnehan. She started Week Three by earning MVP 3 accolades against Team Edmond with 19 kills and 11 digs. Clarie Chaussee closed the season with three consecutive double-digit kill performances in Week Five, including 13 kills and 14 digs against Team Nuneviller in the season finale. She recorded 12 matches with 100 or more leaderboard points, including six contests with 200 or more points.
Other Professional Experience: Clarie Chaussee played for CBF Balducci HR Macerata in Italy in 2022-23. She competed for Grand Rapid Rise during the inaugural 2024 Pro Volleyball Federation campaign, compiling 395 kills with 14 service aces, 20 blocks, and 257 digs in 96 sets. Clarie Chaussee was a member of League One Volleyball’s Madison team for the inaugural 2025 season, where she put down 130 kills with 100 digs and seven blocks.
International Experience: Clarie Chaussee won a Gold medal at the 2025 NORCECA Final Six with the U.S. National Team.
At Louisville: Clarie Chaussee was a five-year letter winner at Louisville who appeared in 128 matches from 2018-22. She saw action in 408 sets, including a career-high 119 sets during her final season. Clarie Chaussee accumulated 1,232 kills with 565 digs and 124 blocks during her college career. She also registered 46 service aces. Clarie Chaussee was honored as the 2022 Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year after leading the Cardinals with 452 kills while hitting .304. She led Louisville with 493 points as a fifth-year senior while fashioning five double-doubles. Clarie Chaussee also garnered First-Team AVCA All-America recognition in addition to securing AVCA East Region Player of the Year during her final season with the Cardinals. She collected Second-Team All-ACC notice in 2021 after posting 14 matches with double-digit kills and ranking nationally with a 2.84 kill per set average. Clarie Chaussee tallied 146 kills during the 2020 campaign while appearing in 53 sets. She posted 16 kills with a .714 hitting percentage against Wake Forest while coming off the bench to contribute 21 kills against San Diego. Clarie Chaussee was a valuable reserve for the Cardinals during the 2019 season who posted 13 matches with 10 or more kills while helping Louisville earn a berth in the NCAA Quarterfinals. She totaled 89 kills as a freshman while appearing in 40 sets. Clarie Chaussee earned ACC Freshman of the Week honors after notching 31 kills with eight digs in a four-set victory over Miami.
