Personal: Flippen graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in human development and family studies. Her mother, Mary Lou Flippen, was an All-America softball player at Utah State and led the Aggies to national titles in 1980 and 1981. Flippen's favorite softball memory is hosting NCAA Regionals in Utah and beating BYU to advance to the Super Regionals. If she was not playing softball, Flippen would be a professional tennis player or teacher. In high school, she also played basketball and volleyball. Flippen enjoys walking, hiking, reading, watching Netflix, and sitting in hammocks. She wears No. 19 because her family members also wore it during their playing careers and in honor of Hall of Fame baseball player Tony Gwynn.
