Sydney Colson Stands Out in Statement Win for the Fever
Sydney Colson helped end the WNBA’s last remaining undefeated streak this week, aiding Indiana in a 102-88 win over New York and handing the Liberty their first loss of the season.
Colson finished with 10 points, six assists, one rebound and one steal in 20 minutes—her first double-figure scoring performance of the year and highest scoring outing since last September. She shot 3-for-4 from the field, 2-for-3 from three, and was perfect at the line. The 35-year-old guard has now averaged 5.2 points, 3.0 assists and 1.0 rebounds over her last five games.
With the win, Indiana pulled even on the season and now holds a .500 record, good for third place in the Eastern Conference.
Elsewhere in the league, several other Athletes Unlimited Pro Basketball players posted season highs as well.
Alissa Pili scored a season-best eight points and added two rebounds in just 10 minutes during Minnesota’s 101-78 win over the Sparks. The Minnesota Lynx remain in control of the Western Conference with a league-best 10-1 record.
Kierstan Bell also put together her best game of the season, finishing with eight points and two rebounds in 14 minutes for the Las Vegas Aces during a 76-70 loss to Phoenix. She connected on two threes and was 2-for-2 at the line. Sunday’s outing was her most efficient since scoring 12 in last year’s regular-season finale.
Alysha Clark recorded 11 points, three rebounds, one assist and one steal in Saturday’s 76-70 loss to the Golden State Valkyries. It was her third straight game making an impact off the bench and her highest scoring output of the season. She shot 4-for-6 from the field and hit three of five from beyond the arc, finishing as Seattle’s second-leading scorer behind Skylar Diggins.
Kia Nurse turned in her third double-figure performance of the season with 11 points, two rebounds and one steal in just 16 minutes of action. She was perfect from the field—4-for-4 overall and 3-for-3 from three—in Chicago’s 78-66 win over the Sun. The outing was a strong bounce-back after scoring just two points on Friday.
Lexie Brown saw her most extended playing time of the season with 14 minutes in the Storm’s loss to the Valkyries. She finished with a season-high five points. Seattle still sits just above .500 at 6-5 as Week 5 wraps.
