Thompson's lead grows; McCage, Cooper break into Top 4 as Week 3 Captains
Jordan Thompson is building a historic lead at the top of the leaderboard. The opposite’s 722-point advantage over the No. 2 spot is the largest through two weeks in Athletes Unlimited Pro Volleyball history.
Her team swept away the competition in Week Two, picking up six set wins. She has 2,133 points and is averaging 6.22 kills per set through the first two weeks.
Joining her as captains are Reagan Cooper, Natalia Valentin-Anderson, and Molly McCage.
Cooper (1,411 points) is a first-time captain in Week Three. She piloted Team Hentz with her best performances of the season, tallying 51 kills in Week Two. A pair of MVP 1 honors, five set wins, and a match victory generated 737 points to slot into the No. 2 spot on the leaderboard.
Returning to the captain’s chair–this time in a Blue jersey–is setter Valentin-Anderson (1,396 points). She paces the league with 214 assists, adding 65 digs, which is tied for third. Her team swept 180 win points against Team Hoffman on Sunday, but dropped five sets across losses to Team Hentz and Team Thompson in Week Two.
Breaking into the Top 4 and completing the Week Three captains is McCage (1,274). The middle blocker leads the field in blocks (19) and block assists (8). She picked up 716 points in Week Two, aided by 420 win points from six set wins and three match victories with Team Thompson.
The four captains will select their teams on Monday, Oct. 20. Fans can visit auprosports.com and follow @auprovolleyball on Instagram to learn the Week Three rosters following the draft.
