The first game of the inaugural Athletes Unlimited Lacrosse season is in the books, and it was the Team Ohlmiller show from the very start. Kayla Treanor led the impressive offensive production with four goals, while Kayla Wood and Kathy Rudkin made big plays on the defensive end. Britt Read and Kady Glynn were an unstoppable goalkeeping unit, allowing Team Benson to score just three goals.

Less than eight seconds into the game, Halle Majorana scored a skillful behind-the-back goal for the first goal in Athletes Unlimited Lacrosse history. This quickly put Team Ohlmiller up 1-0.

Team Ohlmiller continued to rack up points during the first quarter. After Treanor scored her first goal of the game, Ally Kennedy made it 3-0 for Team Ohlmiller with a split dodge from the top.

Treanor scored again with a slick behind-the-back shot to make it 4-0 Team Ohlmiller, while Katrina Geiger earned 14 individual points in just seven seconds with a forced a turnover and a ground ball.

Near the end of the quarter, captain Kylie Ohlmiller scored her team’s fifth unanswered goal with a swift move from behind the cage.

Team Benson finally got on the board to close out the first quarter with a score from Marie McCool, who found the back of the net after being denied by Read on the previous play.

To open up the second quarter, Majorana scored her second goal of the night to put Team Ohlmiller up 6-1. Soon after that, Treanor secured the hat trick after sneaking the ball in between Angie Benson’s legs.

Team Benson finally added another point to the board with a second goal from McCool, who narrowly beat the shot clock.

After a dominant first half, Team Ohlmiller led Team Benson 7-2 after the second quarter.

To start the third quarter, Ohlmiller notched her second goal of the game and put her team up 8-2.

Team Benson scored their third and final goal of the game after Kenzie Kent sent a pass from behind the net to Molly Stevens, who put it past Glynn.

Nicole Levy scored her first professional goal off a backhanded pass from Majorana, putting Team Ohlmiller up 9-3 at the end of the third quarter.

The fourth quarter was much more quiet than the previous three, but Treanor scored her fourth goal of the game with just under two minutes left in the game.

The final goal came from Dempsey Arsenault, who found the back of the net to cap off an impressive showing on both ends of the field.

Team Ohlmiller finished the game winning all 125 win points. Wood led the way with 210 points overall with 125 win points, 40 stat points and 45 points for being named MVP 1. Treanor followed close behind at 201 points. She was named MVP 2, contributing 30 points to her total.
