Opposite hitters were in great company during the 2025 Athletes Unlimited Pro Volleyball Championship, with returning 2024 champion Brittany Abercrombie in the mix, and the position became even more stacked as Jordan Thompson dominated from start to finish in her AU debut season.

Thompson’s historic campaign once again showed how opposite hitters can control the leaderboard, and the impact extended beyond just Thompson and Abercrombie, with multiple opposites showcasing the depth of talent at the position throughout the fall.

Jordan Thompson – 1st Place (3,563 points)

Jordan Thompson’s AU debut belonged in the record books. The two-time Olympic medalist seized control of the leaderboard during Week One and never let go, finishing with 3,563 leaderboard points – 548 ahead of second-place Reagan Cooper. She added a decisive 683 points in the final week while securing her eighth MVP award of the season.

Thompson recorded 229 kills across 12 matches while delivering double-digit kill performances in every single one. She became the first player in AU Pro Volleyball history to surpass five matches with 20 or more kills in a single season, starting with 20 kills against Team Abercrombie in Week One for the second-highest debut offensive performance in league history.

Her best performance came in Week Two versus Team Hoffman, where she tallied 26 kills, which was just one shy of the single-match record, while setting a new single-set record with 15 kills. That match also marked the first double-double of the season. Her 6.19 kills per set average topped the league by a wide margin, and she sat in the captain’s chair for three straight weeks while maintaining her grip on the top spot.

Brittany Abercrombie – 9th Place (2,324 points)

Brittany Abercrombie followed up her 2024 championship season with another strong all-around performance. The 2024 champion opened the season as a Week One captain and closed that week with a 17-kill performance that yielded a season-best 0.47 hitting percentage.

Abercrombie recorded double figures in nine of her 12 matches, including a season-high 18 kills versus Team Cooper in Week Three. Her 3.92 kills per set average ranked fifth in the league, and she remained one of the most reliable offensive options in the championship. While she couldn’t repeat as champion, she produced an impressive follow-up campaign and finished in the Top 10 on the leaderboard for the second straight season.

Her defensive impact also elevated her game. Abercrombie posted 3.03 digs per set and finished fifth in the league with 112 total digs after placing seventh in the category last fall. Her reliability in all six rotations made her a coveted pick on draft days throughout the season.

Temi Thomas-Ailara – 20th Place (1,706 points)

Temi Thomas-Ailara showed out in Madison during the second stint of competition, representing the position well in her alma mater’s state. The former Wisconsin Badger recorded 78 kills (2.79 per set) and 68 digs (2.43 per set) while adding 10 blocks to her stat line.

Thomas-Ailara’s season-high 16 kills came in Week Two against Team Hentz and also featured a 0.39 hitting percentage that was one of her highest of the season. She received three MVP honors throughout the championship, earning MVP 1 distinction once and MVP 2 recognition twice.

Her best defensive showings came during the final week of competition when she posted a season-high 14 digs twice. Thomas-Ailara’s well-rounded contributions helped her finish 20th on the leaderboard, cementing her place among the championship’s most impactful opposites.
