Six newcomers sign on for 2022 Softball seasons

On Monday, the league announced the signings of six athletes, including five draftees, who will take the field this summer.

Danielle Gibson, Corner Infielder

Signed for AUX Softball, San Diego & Athletes Unlimited Softball Season 3

This Razorback contributed to her teams’ success throughout her entire college career. Gibson was a part of Arkansas’ groundbreaking rise as an NFCA Second Team All-American, All-SEC Second Team and SEC All-Defensive Team as a first baseman.

Georgina Corrick, Pitcher

Signed for AUX Softball, San Diego

Corrick is a pitcher for the USF Bulls who whizzed by batters and recorded rarely-seen career stats in her senior season. She set the Bulls’ program record for career strikeouts and threw the fourth perfect game in program history. She now holds five school records and two American Athletic Conference records.

Maggie Balint, pitcher

Signed for AUX Softball, San Diego & Athletes Unlimited Softball Season 3

Balint will start off her professional career on the same field she called home in college. The Aztec team captain is tied for eighth in SDSU records books for winning percentage (.680) in a single season. Prior to attending SDSU, Balint played her freshman and sophomore years at Oregon, where she went 28-4 in the circle with a 1.51 ERA, finishing a total of 13 complete games.

Sydney Sherrill, Corner Infielder

Signed for Athletes Unlimited Softball Season 3

Sherrill came out firing in her collegiate career, leading Florida State Seminoles Softball to their first NCAA championship in her breakout freshman year. 

At the conclusion of her college career, Sherrill has been named one of college softball’s nine inaugural Rawlings Gold Glove Award winners. She is also the three-peat winner of the ACC’s Defensive Player of the Year, solidifying her as one of the best defenders in ACC history.

Mia Davidson, Catcher

Signed for Athletes Unlimited Softball Season 3

Davidson is a star catcher that has set countless Mississippi State and SEC records. She started off hot, earning Southeastern Conference freshman of the year honors. She went on to break the MSU and SEC single-season home run records in 2019 with 26 homers. That year she was donned an NFCA Third Team All-American.

Aly Harrell, Infielder

Signed for AUX Softball, San Diego

Harrell is Marshall’s standout slugger who was the first student athlete in university history to be named a Senior CLASS award winner. In 2022 she also earned the honors of NFCA Mideast All-Region first team and All-Conference USA First Team. She ranks second on the NCAA Top 10 list for on-base percentage this season, averaging .606.
