Recap: Siegrist's Second-Half Run Leads Team Siegrist to 79-74 Win

NASHVILLE — Forward Maddy Siegrist scored 17 of her game-high 25 points in the second half to lead Team Siegrist to a 79-74 victory over Team Bradford in the finale of Saturday’s Athletes Unlimited Pro Basketball doubleheader at Nashville Municipal Auditorium on Saturday evening.

Team Siegrist improves to 2-0 on the week, while Team Bradford sees its record even at 1-1.

Siegrist, who shot 7-for-15 from the field and 10-of-11 at the free throw line, secured Game MVP honors for the 11th consecutive game after garnering MVP 1 recognition and 628 leaderboard points. The Villanova product also contributed five rebounds and three assists while upping her record as a captain to 7-1 this season.

Guard Bria Hartley added an MVP 3 commendation after pitching in 13 points with six rebounds and four assists in the win for Team Siegrist.

Guard Lexie Brown, meanwhile, paced Team Bradford in the loss with a season-high 24 points to collect MVP 2 plaudits and 373 leaderboard points. The former Duke standout was 9-of-21 shooting from the field and also matched her season high with seven rebounds.

Guard Christyn Williams added 11 points for Team Siegrist, while center Elizabeth Williams pulled down a season-high 12 rebounds. Guard Taj Cole narrowly missed a double-double with a career-high 10 rebounds while adding nine points in the victory.

Captain Crystal Bradford registered a double-double with 13 points and a game-high 13 rebounds in her squad’s loss, while forward G’mrice Davis poured in a season-best 15 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the floor.

KEY MOMENT

Team Siegrist overcame a five-point deficit in the second quarter by going on a 22-4 run spanning the second and third quarters to secure a 50-37 advantage. Team Bradford narrowed the gap to 77-74 after a three-pointer from Shey Peddy with 1:59 left in regulation, but two free throws by Siegrist with 1:06 left sealed the verdict.

LEADERBOARD IMPACT

Siegrist enters the final day of the season on top of the leaderboard with 6,851 points and holds a 907-point advantage over guard Odyssey Sims. Bradford and guard Tyasha Harris round out the top four spots with forward Maya Caldwell just one point behind Harris for the No. 4 position.

NOTES OF INTEREST

Team Bradford initiated a captain’s challenge with 2:45 remaining in the third quarter on an out-of-bounds call, which was successfully overturned.
Team Siegrist also requested a captain’s challenge on a personal foul called against guard Sequoia Holmes with 3:00 left in the fourth quarter … The challenge was unsuccessful after the foul call was confirmed.
Team Siegrist and Team Bradford played in the sixth game to be decided by five points or less this season, including the third consecutive contest.
Brown has reached double-digit scoring in 10-of-11 appearances this season, including nine consecutive outings … She has also surpassed the 20-point plateau in each of her last two games.
Hartley hit double figures for the eighth time this year, including the third game in a row.
Siegrist has tallied at least 10 points in all 23 games of her Athletes Unlimited Pro Basketball career … She joins guard Odyssey Sims as the only players to score in double figures in all 11 games this season … Siegrist has also registered 20 or more points in her last seven outings.
Bradford has scored 10 or more points in 9-of-11 games this season, giving her 22 career double-digit performances.
Bradford also extended her AU Pro Basketball record with her 15th career double-double, including her league-best seven double-double of the season.
Davis posted the fifth double-digit scoring output of her AU Pro Basketball career, including her first instance this season.
Christyn Williams reached double-digit scoring for the third time this year … She previously registered 12 points against Team Bradford on February 12 after opening the season with 23 points against Team Westbrook on February 5.
Elizabeth Williams’s season-high 12 rebounds served as her first double-digit rebounding effort of the year.
Siegrist has now tallied 780 MVP points this season, the second-highest total in league history … Guard Allisha Gray owns the league single-season standard with 870 points during the 2024 campaign.
Hartley captured Game MVP selection for the sixth time this season, which is tied for the third-most in the league.
