Recap: Brown's Strong Second Half Lifts Team Harrison Over Team Westbrook, 74-68
NASHVILLE — Guard Lexie Brown scored 14 of her 16 points in the second half as Team Harrison earned a 74-68 come-from-behind victory over Team Westbrook to complete the opening week of the 2025 Athletes Unlimited Pro Basketball season at Nashville Municipal Auditorium on Saturday evening.
The victory gives Team Harrison a 2-1 record to close out Week One, while Team Westbrook faltered for the first time and also completed the season’s opening segment with a 2-1 mark.
Forward Maddy Siegrist matched Brown with a team-high 16 points in addition to grabbing eight rebounds in Team Harrison’s victory to earn MVP 1 accolades and 523 leaderboard points.
Brown finished with 16 points while adding five rebounds and three assists to garner MVP 2 laurels and 519 leaderboard points. She was near perfect after the intermission, sinking 4-of-6 field goal attempts in addition to a perfect 6-of-6 at the charity stripe.
Guard Crystal Bradford secured MVP 3 plaudits with a game-high 20 points after knocking down 8-of-12 field goal attempts, including her first seven tries to open the game. She also snagged a game-high nine rebounds in 26 minutes off the bench for Team Westbrook.
Guard Sequoia Holmes pitched in 11 points in the victory for Team Harrison, while forward G’mrice Davis tallied nine points and eight boards.
Guard Kia Nurse added 16 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the field, including a 2-for-4 performance from long range, to go with five rebounds in the loss for Team Westbrook.
KEY MOMENT
Team Harrison trailed by a 55-48 margin with 9:07 remaining in the fourth quarter before mounting a 13-1 run to claim a 59-56 advantage with 6:05 left in regulation. Team Westbrook closed to within a single point at 67-66 with 1:54 left, but Team Harrison converted seven free throws in the final 95 seconds to seal the victory.
LEADERBOARD IMPACT
Bradford stands atop the leaderboard with 1,525 points after the first week of the season, while Siegrist jumped six spots into the No. 2 position with 1,440 points. Nurse and guard Tyasha Harris round out the top four positions on the league chart through the season’s first six contests.
NOTES OF INTEREST
- Teams are now 2-for-7 in captain’s challenges through six games this season after each team had an unsuccessful challenge in the Week One finale.
- Team Westbrook won 10 consecutive quarters before Team Harrison claimed the third and fourth quarters on Saturday night.
- Bradford has scored in double figures in six of her last seven AU Pro Basketball games, including all three this season, after finishing with 20 points … It is the sixth time she has tallied 20 or more points in her AU career and the first instance since a 24-point showing against Team Harrison on March 24, 2023.
