Recap: Glow complete 3-0 sweep with 97-79 victory over Gold Rush

NASHVILLE — Glow erupted for 56 points in the second half and shot 56.1 percent after the intermission to defeat Gold Rush by a 97-79 count to wrap up Saturday’s Athletes Unlimited Pro Basketball doubleheader at Nashville Municipal Auditorium.

The win allowed Glow to finish Week Two with a perfect 3-0 record, while Gold Rush dropped to 1-2.

Forward Natasha Mack headlined five Glow scorers in double figures after scoring 13 points with 13 rebounds to secure MVP 3 honors and a game-high 611 leaderboard points. She was 6-for-11 from the field and grabbed eight offensive rebounds en route to her first Game MVP award of the season.

Guard Odyssey Sims collected MVP 2 honors in the victory after scoring 11 of her team-high 17 points in the second half while adding four assists and two steals. Guard Kierstan Bell contributed 14 points, including a 4-of-6 effort from long range, with four rebounds, while guard Sarah Ashlee Barker chipped in 12 markers with six rebounds.

Captain Rebekah Gardner pitched in 15 points with three rebounds, two assists and three steals to complete Glow’s double-digit scoring quintet.

Gold Rush was led by a game-high 20 points from guard Kia Nurse, who shot 8-of-15 from the field to claim her fourth Game MVP citation
of the season. Guard Bree Hall and forward Teana Muldrow each registered 12 points, while captain Kaitlyn Chen finished with 10 points
and six assists in the defeat.

KEY MOMENT

After battling to a 41-all stalemate at the intermission, Glow shined in the third quarter by tallying 33 points on 13-of-22 shooting from the field to claim a 74-61 lead it did not relinquish. Sims tallied 10 of her 17 points in the frame after going 5-for-5 from the field.

LEADERBOARD IMPACT

Gardner maintains the top spot on the season leaderboard with 3,035 points, while teammates Sims and Mack hold the No. 2 and No. 3 positions with 2,769 points and 2,743 points, respectively.

  • Glow becomes the 10th team in AU Pro Basketball history to win all three games in a single week, including the second instance this season … Eclipse opened the season with a perfect 3-0 record.

  • Guard Kia Nurse ran her streak of consecutive double-figure scoring performances to nine in a row after netting 20 points … She has crossed the 20-point threshold four times in six games this year, which is tied for the league lead with guard Odyssey Sims.
  • Guard Bree Hall reached double-digit scoring for the fourth time this season, including the second night in a row, after scoring 12 points against Glow.
  • Guard Te-Hina Paopao dropped in a season-high 12 points to author her first career double-digit scoring effort.
