Recap: Denham, Wisz Help Lead Team Edwards Past Team Clark, 4-3
WICHITA, Kansas – Corner infielder Delanie Wisz homered for the third straight game and pitcher Alyssa Denham spun a complete game as Team Edwards secured a 4-3 victory over Team Clark to complete Monday’s Athletes Unlimited Pro Softball AUX doubleheader at sold-out Wilkins Stadium.
The win elevated Team Edwards’ Series Two record to 1-2, while Team Clark suffered its first loss and holds a 2-1 mark.
Wisz, who captured MVP 1 honors and a game-high 200 leaderboard points, gave Team Edwards a 3-0 lead in the first inning when she blasted a three-run home run down the left field line.
Denham claimed MVP 2 laurels and picked up 194 leaderboard points in the victory after giving up three runs on three hits with two strikeouts to secure the third complete game of her Athletes Unlimited Pro Softball career.
Designated player Nadia Taylor paced Team Clark with a 3-for-4 performance at the plate with an RBI and a run scored to collect MVP 3 recognition.
Sarah Willis suffered the loss in the circle for Team Clark after conceding four runs on four hits over 5.0 innings with a strikeout.
Five different players contributed a hit in the victory for Team Edwards.
KEY MOMENT
With the game tied at 3-all in the top of the fifth inning, designated player Haley Lee singled to lead off the inning. Jadelyn Allchin entered the game as a pinch runner and moved to third before outfielder Bubba Nickles drove her in with a sacrifice fly.
LEADERBOARD IMPACT
Designated player Jocelyn Alo remains atop the leaderboard with 830 points, while catcher Taylor Edwards received 100 points and remains second in the standings entering Wednesday’s series-ending contests. With Denham’s 194 points, she vaulted 17 spots up the leaderboard into 12th place with 586 points.
