Captains Sam Apuzzo, Taylor Moreno, Ally Kennedy, and Charlotte North drafted their teams for Week Three of the 2024 Athletes Unlimited Pro Lacrosse season during Monday’s draft.
Week Three begins Thursday, August 1, as Team Kennedy faces Team Moreno at 5 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. CT, followed by Team Apuzzo vs. Team North, at 7:30 p.m. ET / 6:30 p.m. CT on Bally Sports.
Here is a list of notes and tidbits related to the AU Pro Lacrosse Week Three draft.
- Attacker Sam Apuzzo returns as a weekly captain for the 11th straight week as she leads the Gold team in Week Three of the 2024 season … This is just the second time in Apuzzo’s career she has worn Gold and the first time since Week Five of the inaugural 2021 Athletes Unlimited Pro Lacrosse season.
- Apuzzo holds a 23-7 record as a captain, which is the most victories for an AU Pro Lacrosse captain, after leading the Purple squad to a perfect 3-0 record in Week Two … She was the first captain of the 2024 campaign to finish the week undefeated.
- In addition, Apuzzo’s 11 weeks as a captain is tied for the most out of all Athletes Unlimited athletes across all sports … She is tied with guard Odyssey Sims (basketball).
- Goalkeeper Taylor Moreno serves as a team captain for the 10th straight week and guides the Orange team in Week Three … This is just the second time Moreno has worn Orange in her career with the only other occasion coming in her league debut in Week One of the 2022 season.
- Moreno sports a 15-12 record as a team captain since joining the league … She has a 4-2 record during the 2024 season and has the second most captain wins in AU Pro Lacrosse history.
- Midfielder Ally Kennedy makes her Athletes Unlimited Pro Lacrosse captain debut as she pilots the Blue team … The Stony Brook product dons the Blue shirt for the third time in her 16 weeks in AU Pro Lacrosse with all three occasions coming in the last six weeks.
- Attacker Charlotte North sits fourth on the leaderboard and also serves as a captain for the first time … North will guide the Purple team and will wear the color for the third time … This is the third different team North has been on in the 2024 season after wearing Orange in Week One and was a part of the Blue squad last week.
- Attacker Kenzie Kent was selected with the first overall pick in the draft by Team North … This is the second time she has been selected No. 1 with the first time coming during Week Three of the 2023 season by Team Moreno … The Boston College product is in a Purple uniform for just the third time in her 16 weeks with AU Pro Lacrosse and for the first time since Week Three of the 2023 campaign.
- Midfielder Dempsey Arsenault returns to Team Apuzzo and will join the Gold team in Week Three competition … Arsenault was the top selection by attacker Sam Apuzzo and joins her team for the fifth time in the past six weeks … She wears Gold for the fourth time in her 16 weeks in AU Pro Lacrosse.
- Rookie midfielder Cassidy Weeks was the first newcomer taken in Monday night’s draft at the No. 5 spot … She moved up four spots on the draft board after going ninth last week and will wear Gold for the second time in her three-week career.
- The biggest mover on the draft board was attacker Sammy Jo Tracy who was selected 24 spots higher than last week with the No. 19 pick … Tracy registered a career-high six points on three goals and three assists on Sunday night and dons the Orange shirt for the fifth time in her career, including the second time in a row.
- Defender Caroline Wakefield was selected by Team Moreno and will wear Orange for the fifth time … She has been selected by Team Moreno in six of the last seven weeks.
- Rookie attacker Madison Ahern joins Team Apuzzo in Gold, which is her second time wearing the color in her first season … She vaulted 20 spots up the draft board on Monday and was selected with the No. 29 pick after going No. 49 last week and No. 42 in the Week One draft.
- Rookie attacker Izzy Scane was selected by Team Moreno and will wear Orange for the first time in her AU Pro Lacrosse career … The Northwestern product wore Purple in her first two weeks in the league.
- Midfielder Katie O’Donnell dons the Orange uniform for the third time in her career and the first time since Week One of the 2023 campaign … She has worn a different jersey each of the three weeks in the 2024 season.
- Midfielder Lauren Gilbert was taken by Team North and will sport a Purple jersey for the first time in her Athletes Unlimited Pro Lacrosse career … She previously wore an Orange shirt eight times and a Blue uniform twice.
- Attacker Sam Geiersbach moved up six places on the draft board to No. 10 after back-to-back contests with Game MVP honors to close out Week Two … The University of North Carolina product wears a Blue jersey for the fourth time in her 11 weeks in the league, which is the most out of any of the other colors … It’s the first time Geiersbach is in Blue since the opening week of last season.
- Defender Meg Douty was taken by Team Kennedy and will be in a Blue shirt for the fifth time in her four years in the league … Douty has not worn Blue in nearly two full years with her last selection by a Team Blue captain since Week Four of the 2022 campaign.
- Midfielder Lindsey McKone will wear a Gold jersey for the fourth time in her 16 weeks and the first time since the 2022 season’s final week … She wore a Purple jersey in each of the first two weeks this season.
- After making her captain’s debut this past week, midfielder Marie McCool was taken by Team Moreno and will don an Orange uniform for just the second time in 16 weeks … The only other time McCool wore the color was in the first week of AU Pro Lacrosse’s inaugural season in 2021.
- Attacker Livy Rosenzweig was selected by Team North in the fourth round and will sport a Purple top for the second time in her career after also joining the Purple squad in Week Four last summer.
- Rookie attacker Maggi Hall earned her third straight top 15 selection after going No. 13 on the draft board to Team Apuzzo … Hall will don a Gold jersey for the first time after wearing Blue in each of the first two weeks.
- Rookie Emily Nalls was the first defender taken in Monday night’s draft with the No. 14 pick by Team Moreno, which is 10 spots higher than a week ago … She is in an Orange shirt for the first time and in her third color of her three weeks in the league.
- This is the third week in a row midfielders Dempsey Arsenault and Ally Mastroianni have been drafted in the first round.
- Goalkeeper Kady Glynn was the first netminder taken in the draft after going in the seventh round … The No. 28 pick is the highest a goalkeeper has gone this season and is 12 places higher than her selection last week … This is the fourth time in the last seven weeks she will play for Team Apuzzo.
- Rookie midfielder Megan Kinna is the only player on the 2024 AU Pro Lacrosse roster to play in the same color jersey each of the first three weeks of the season … She will wear an Orange shirt for the third week in a row.
