Kaz Brown set to build on defensive dominance in 2025 AU Pro Volleyball Championship

Kaz Brown is set to return for the 2025 Athletes Unlimited Pro Volleyball Championship after an outstanding 2024 season that cemented her place as one of the league’s top middle blockers.

She finished tied for sixth in AU history with 31 solo blocks, matching Kayla Caffey, and ranked third with 24 block assists, tying Molly McCage. Brown also shares third place on the career blocks chart with 64 rejections across 89 sets. Her defensive prowess placed her second all-time in block assists with 46, trailing only Tori Dixon.

In her second AU season, Brown earned 1,891 leaderboard points and contributed 58 kills and 16 digs across 46 sets. She registered MVP 3 honors in several standout performances, including an October 14 match against Team Caffey, where she recorded eight kills on a .727 hitting percentage and added a service ace. She also posted six kills, three solo blocks, and a pair of block assists in another MVP-worthy performance against Team Member-Meneh on October 28. Brown hit over 100 leaderboard points in eight matches, including four where she surpassed 200 points.

Brown’s debut season in 2023 was equally impressive. She earned 2,135 leaderboard points and finished 20th in the standings, with three Match MVP selections. She led the league with 33 solo blocks and was second in block assists with 22, hitting .300 with 91 kills. A season-high performance came in Week One, where she recorded five solo blocks, two block assists, and seven kills, earning MVP 1 honors.

Internationally, Brown has had a six-year professional career in Germany, Ukraine, France, and Greece, playing for USC Munster, Khimik Yuzhny, Beziers Volley, and AEK Athens. Most recently, she played for the Orlando Valkyries in the 2025 Pro Volleyball Federation season, where she was the team’s second-leading scorer with 228 kills, second only behind 2024 AU Pro Volleyball champion and Valkyries teammate, Brittany Abercrombie.

At Kentucky, Brown was a four-year standout, earning First-Team All-SEC honors and an AVCA Honorable Mention All-American distinction in her senior year. She finished her college career with 1,015 kills and a .357 hitting percentage, setting school records for blocks in the 25-point rally scoring era and leading the Wildcats to an SEC title in 2017.

Off the court, Brown has made a significant impact through her advocacy for the Lupus community. In 2024, she received the Athletes Unlimited Civic Leadership Award.

As Brown returns to the AU Pro Volleyball Championship for 2025, fans can expect more dominant performances and leadership from one of the competition’s most accomplished players.
