Three Athletes Unlimited Pro Basketball standouts are on the move to fresh starts in the WNBA. Injuries opened roster spots and new opportunities emerged for players ready to make the most of them.

Jacy Sheldon is now with the Washington Mystics after a trade from Connecticut, Odyssey Sims has signed with the Indiana Fever, and Jaylyn Sherrod has landed in Minnesota with the Lynx. Each enters a new locker room with something to prove in the closing stretch of the season.

Jacy Sheldon traded to the Washington Mystics

Sheldon made her Mystics debut Sunday, posting eight points and two rebounds in 22 minutes during a win over Dallas. The guard arrived in Washington earlier in the week from Connecticut in exchange for Aaliyah Edwards, marking her third team in two seasons.

A top-five pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, Sheldon split her rookie year between Dallas and Connecticut. She’s coming off her most productive pro stretch with the Sun, averaging 7.6 points and 24.3 minutes per game before the trade. The former Ohio State star, who is set to make her Athletes Unlimited debut this winter, will compete for backcourt minutes alongside Jade Melbourne and Lucy Olsen as Washington pushes through the final weeks of the season.

Odyssey Sims signs hardship contract with Indiana Fever

Sims signed a hardship contract with Indiana on Sunday, joining a backcourt hit by injuries to Sydney Colson and Aari McDonald, with Caitlin Clark still sidelined. Sims started the 2025 season with the Los Angeles Sparks, where she posted standout moments, including a 32-point game against Phoenix on June 1.

A 12-year WNBA veteran and two-time AU medalist, Sims has suited up for seven teams since being drafted No. 2 overall in 2014. She averaged 9.8 points and 5.3 assists in 15 games for the Sparks in 2024 and was runner-up in AU’s 2025 season, where she became the first player in league history to record two triple-doubles in a single campaign.

Jaylyn Sherrod signed by the Minnesota Lynx

Sherrod was signed by Minnesota for the remainder of the season after being waived by New York on Aug. 1. The rookie guard appeared in 18 games for the Liberty, averaging 1.2 points in limited minutes. She joins the Lynx after the team released Yvonne Anderson.

Sherrod’s WNBA start followed a title-winning rookie year with the Liberty in 2024 and a strong AU debut in Nashville, where she averaged 6.7 points and 2.4 rebounds per game. A three-time Pac-12 All-Defensive Team selection at Colorado, she adds depth and defensive intensity to Minnesota’s backcourt.

Looking Ahead

With their new uniforms on, Sheldon, Sims, and Sherrod now turn the page to the next chapter with their agendas set on settling in, finding their roles, and making an impact in the home stretch of the regular season.
