Recap: Odyssey Sims Records Second Triple-Double in AU Pro Basketball History

DALLAS — Guard Odyssey Sims registered the second triple-double in Athletes Unlimited Pro Basketball history and guard Kierstan Bell added a game-high 26 points as Team Sims capped a perfect 3-0 week with a 116-79 rout of Team Mitchell to begin Sunday’s doubleheader at Fair Park Coliseum.

While Team Sims ended the week with its three victories, Team Mitchell suffered its third loss in a row to fall to 3-0 for the week.

Sims, who earned MVP 2 honors for her record-setting effort, was one of four 20-point scorers on her team after netting 21 points with 12 assists and 10 rebounds. The former Baylor standout ended the afternoon with a game-high 772 leaderboard points.

Bell, meanwhile, was named the game’s MVP 1 recipient after making 10-of-20 shots from the field, including a 3-for-9 effort from beyond the arc, and added seven rebounds en route to a career-high 698 leaderboard points.

Guard/forward Ty Young came off the bench to contribute a career-high 22 points and 11 rebounds, making 10-of-18 field goal attempts and collecting a career-high 621 leaderboard points.

Guard Tiffany Mitchell paced her squad in the loss with 24 points on 11-of-20 shooting from the floor, while forward Maddy Siegrist and guard Zia Cooke chipped in 17 points apiece.


After allowing the game’s first five points in the opening 53 seconds, Team Sims surged ahead with a 39-3 run over a nine-minute span to take a commanding 39-9 lead with 9:35 remaining in the first half. Bell and Sims combined for 24 points during the outburst as Team Sims never trailed from that point.


Sims moved into second place on the leaderboard with her third game of 600 or more leaderboard points this season. Bell, meanwhile, rose into fourth place in the league standings and holds a 119-point advantage over guard Air Hearn heading into Sunday’s Week Three finale between Team Cloud and Team Gray.


  • Team Mitchell initiated a captain’s challenge on a foul called against Mitchell with 3:35 left in the second quarter, which was unsuccessful … Team Sims also initiated a captain’s challenge on an out-of-bounds call with 4:53 left in the third quarter, which was successful … Teams are now 10-for-27 in captain’s challenges this season.

  • Team Sims becomes the second team this season to register a 3-0 week … Team Gray was 3-0 during Week One … It is the eighth time in the league’s three-year history where a team has won all three games in a single week. .

  • Team Sims’ 116 points are the most scored by a team this season, eclipsing the 115 points scored by Team Gray on March 10 against Team Mitchell … The 116 points also stand as the third-highest mark in the league’s three-year history.

  • Team Sims established a new Athletes Unlimited Pro Basketball record with its 37 points in the first quarter, surpassing the previous mark of 36 points, which occurred twice.

  • Team Sims becomes the first team in league history to score 100 or more points in all three of its games during a single week … The squad, which authored a perfect 3-0 record, averaged 107.6 points in its three contests.

  • Team Sims matched the league record with its 31 rebounds in the opening 20 minutes, becoming the fifth team to record 31 caroms in a single half … The squad finished with 56 caroms, which are the most collected by a team this season.

  • Sims evened her career record as a captain to 15-15 with the victory and has won four of her last five contests.

  • Sims now stands second in league history with 17 career Game MVP commendations, including five this season … Only guard Kelsey Mitchell has more Game MVP honors in league history.

  • Sims joins guard Natasha Cloud as the only players in Athletes Unlimited Pro Basketball history with a triple-double … Cloud recorded the first triple-double against Team Harrison on February 12, 2022.

  • Bell has earned Game MVP honors in four of her last five outings after notching her fifth consecutive 20-point performance … It is also the 10th Game MVP award of her two-year Athletes Unlimited career.

  • Young reached the 20-point mark for the first time in her Athletes Unlimited career and also surpassed 600 or more leaderboard points for the first time in her career.

  • Mitchell finishes Week Three with a streak of eight consecutive games with 20 or more points.

  • Hearn has tallied 10 or more points in 8-of-9 games this season, including the last six outings in a row … She also set a career high with 590 leaderboard points in Sunday’s victory.

  • Guard Grace Berger led Team Mitchell with a season-high nine rebounds in the loss on Sunday.
