Kristen Carr

Personal: Carr was named the head women’s lacrosse coach at Towson University on July 23, 2023, after spending the previous 10 months as director of girls lacrosse at The St. James in Virginia. She was inducted into the Greater Baltimore Lacrosse Foundation Hall of Fame in 2023. A three-sport athlete in high school, Carr played soccer, basketball, and lacrosse. She was named the 2005 Baltimore City High School Soccer Player of the Year by the Baltimore Sun. Currently, Carr serves on the Board of Directors for USA Lacrosse and also works as a U-18 coach with USA Lacrosse. She spent two seasons as an assistant women’s lacrosse coach at Johns Hopkins and has also served as an assistant coach at North Carolina, Delaware, Stanford, and Ohio State. Carr's father, Dan, played football at Brockport University, and her brothers, Nick and Brian, played lacrosse at Ohio State and Detroit Mercy, respectively. Known to her teammates and coaches as “Cookie,” Carr has a bernedoodle named Kali and lists former Johns Hopkins women’s lacrosse coach Janine Tucker as a person who has made a difference in her life. If she was not playing lacrosse, Carr would be a soccer or beach volleyball professional athlete. Her hobbies include spending time with family and friends and learning about people, experiences, and new places. Carr wears No. 83 because her father and brothers also wore the number during their football careers.

2023 Season: Carr collected 841 leaderboard points during her third Athletes Unlimited season. She ranked third in the league with 26 ground balls and started in all 12 games. Carr scored a goal with an assist, opening the season with a goal and two ground balls against Team Moreno. She also notched an assist in the Week Two opener against Team Apuzzo. Carr's season-high came when she collected five ground balls against Team Moreno on July 29 and four ground balls against Team Moreno in Week Four opener. Additionally, she authored a season-high three caused turnovers against Team Apuzzo on July 22 and registered three games with 100 or more leaderboard points.

2022 Season: Carr started all 12 games and accumulated 931 leaderboard points. She had 12 caused turnovers and nine ground balls. Carr's best performance came in Week Two against Team Johansen, where she recorded three ground balls and three caused turnovers. She ended the season with three consecutive 100-point efforts, including a season-high 115 points against Team Glynn.

2021 Season: Carr earned 1,087 leaderboard points. She reached the 100-point mark in four games, with a season-high of 159 points in the Week Five opener against Team Waters. Carr scored her only goal of the season against Team Benson on July 25. She ranked fourth in the league with 33 ground balls and had at least one ground ball in the final 13 games. Carr's season-high six loose balls came against Team Waters on August 20. She also had nine caused turnovers, with a season-high of three against Team Benson in the Week One finale.

International Experience: Carr has been a member of Team USA since 2008 and is currently on the training team for the 2022 World Championship squad. She helped the United States to a perfect 14-0 record and two Gold medals at the 2013 and 2017 World Cups. In the 2017 World Cup, Carr collected 14 ground balls and six draw controls. She also won a Gold medal at The World Games in Poland in 2017.

Other Professional Experience: Carr played for the Baltimore Ride in the 2016 United Women's Lacrosse League season, tallying an assist in nine games. She also played two seasons with the Upstate Pride in the Women's Professional Lacrosse League, recording four ground balls and four caused turnovers in the 2019 campaign. Additionally, Carr played semi-pro soccer for the Chesapeake Charge.

At North Carolina: Carr was a four-year letter winner. She appeared in 81 games for the Tar Heels from 2007-2010 and scored 21 goals with nine assists. Carr had nine goals as a junior and also notched 92 ground balls. She led the Tar Heels to four NCAA Tournament appearances and was named a First-Team All-America selection as a senior by the IWLCA, WomensLax.com, and WomensLacrosse.com. Carr also set a UNC single-season record with 58 draw controls during her junior season.
