Biography
Personal: Halpern is the daughter of Lauren and Jonathan Halpern. Her father played basketball at Cornell from 1986-90. Halpern majored in learning and organizational change at Northwestern. She also played soccer and basketball in high school.
At Northwestern: Halpern was a four-year letter winner at Northwestern who started 74 of 78 career games. She finished her career with 119 ground balls and 35 caused turnovers. In addition, she added four goals, three assists, and 11 draw controls. Halpern received Second-Team All-America laurels from Inside Lacrosse and USA Lacrosse Magazine as a senior. She also earned IWLCA Third-Team All-America status while leading the Wildcats to an NCAA Championship Game appearance. Halpern was a two-time All-Big Ten Conference selection, including First-Team accolades as a senior, and received Second-Team All-Big Ten status in 2023. As a senior, she led the Wildcats with 45 ground balls and 35 caused turnovers while starting all 21 games. Halpern scooped up three or more ground balls in nine games and posted three or more caused turnovers in a game seven times, including a career-high five caused turnovers in a Big Ten Tournament win against Johns Hopkins. She had back-to-back games with four ground balls and three caused turnovers against Johns Hopkins and Penn State. Halpern saw the field in all 20 games with 19 starts as a junior and tallied 37 ground balls with 27 caused turnovers, three draw controls, and an assist. She grabbed three ground balls and caused four turnovers in a win against North Carolina and registered a season-high five ground balls with a trio of caused turnovers against Albany. In the 2023 NCAA Tournament, she totaled seven ground balls and three caused turnovers, helping Northwestern win the national championship. Halpern started all 21 contests for the Wildcasts in 2022 and recorded 21 ground balls with 13 caused turnovers, three goals, and two assists. As a freshman, she appeared in 16 games with 13 starts, finishing with 16 ground balls, 12 caused turnovers, and a goal. Halpern scored a goal in her collegiate debut against Ohio State and grabbed four ground balls while causing one turnover against Penn State.
