Kasey Choma
Biography
Personal: Choma earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing along with a master’s degree in business analytics from Notre Dame.
International Experience: Choma led Team USA to a Gold medal at the 2019 World Lacrosse Under-19 Women’s Championship. She scored eight goals with eight assists while appearing in all seven games. Additionally, she registered six draw controls and four ground balls. Choma netted three goals with an assist in a 25-0 victory over Hong Kong, posted a hat trick against Wales, and registered three assists in an 18-2 victory over England. Furthermore, she tallied a goal with an assist against Canada and contributed two assists against Canada in the Gold medal game.
College Experience: Choma set a Notre Dame record by appearing in 85 career games from 2020-24, including 84 starts. She finished her career with 306 points, including 251 goals and 55 assists. Choma joined Jillian Byers as the only player in school history to surpass 250 career goals and ranks ninth in Atlantic Coast Conference history. She was named to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List in each of her last three seasons and was a four-time IWLCA All-America performer, including First-Team selections in each of her final two seasons with the Fighting Irish. Additionally, Choma garnered First-Team All-America honors from USA Lacrosse Magazine as a senior and graduate student, as well as Second-Team distinction as a junior and sophomore. She received All-America plaudits from Inside Lacrosse five times, including four Second-Team selections. Choma was a member of the 2020 Inside Lacrosse All-Rookie Team and received four All-ACC certificates, including three straight First-Team picks and a Second-Team selection as a sophomore. In 2024, she started all 20 games with at least one point in 19 contests and was third on the team with 56 goals and 78 points while ranking second with 22 assists, helping lead Notre Dame to the NCAA Tournament. Choma was named ACC Player of the Week following a nine-point performance against Louisville, where she scored seven goals and provided two assists. She enjoyed her best season as a senior, leading the Fighting Irish with 69 goals and adding 19 assists to finish second on the team with 88 points. Choma netted at least three goals in 14 of 21 contests, including a career-high eight scores against Virginia Tech. As a junior, she was third on the team with 67 points, including a team-best 59 goals, and scored at least one goal in all 19 games. Choma was also a starter in all 18 games during the 2021 season, where she collected 45 goals and five assists. In her COVID-shortened freshman campaign, Choma erupted for 22 goals in seven games and registered a hat trick to help the Fighting Irish defeat No. 3 Northwestern, as well as scoring six times on six shots, including the game-winning goal, against Ohio State.
