Izzy Scane
Biography
Personal: Scane is the daughter of Joseph and Patricia Scane. Her father competed on the wrestling team at Grand Valley State, while her mother competed on the track and field team at the same university. Additionally, Scane also played field hockey in high school.
2024 Season: Scane was one of 16 players selected in the Athletes Unlimited Pro Lacrosse College Draft.
At Northwestern: Scane had an incredible lacrosse career at Northwestern, starting all 84 games from 2019-2024. She missed the 2022 season due to injury but finished her career as the NCAA Division I’s all-time leader with 376 goals and 107 assists. She also ranks second in NCAA Division I history with 483 career points. Scane is one of only six players in NCAA Division I history with 300 or more career goals and one of six players to win the Tewaaraton Award multiple times. She was the 2023 and 2024 Tewaaraton Award winner and a finalist for the award in 2021. Scane also claimed the 2023 Honda Sport Award for Lacrosse and was a two-time recipient of the IWLCA Division I Player of the Year and Attacker of the Year awards. Additionally, she was a three-time IWLCA First-Team All-America performer and received First-Team All-America status from Inside Lacrosse and USA Lacrosse Magazine in her final season at Northwestern. Scane was also a three-time First-Team All-Big Ten Conference selection and a three-time recipient of the Big Ten Attacker of the Year award.
Furthermore, Scane was the recipient of the Big Ten Tournament’s Most Valuable Player award three times. She was also an eight-time selection as the IWLCA Offensive Player of the Week in her career. During her final two seasons, Scane led the nation in goals, becoming one of only two players in NCAA Division I history to repeat as the country’s leading goal scorer. She also joined an elite group of players as one of only four Division I players to lead the nation in goals multiple times in a career. Scane was nominated for the Best Women’s Sports College Athlete for the 2024 ESPY Awards.
In her final season at Northwestern, Scane was the team's second-leading scorer with 109 points after netting 88 goals with 21 assists as a sixth-year attacker. She scored at least one goal in all 21 games while guiding Northwestern to an appearance in the 2024 NCAA Division I Championship Game. Throughout her career, Scane received numerous accolades and set records, demonstrating her exceptional skill and contribution to the sport of lacrosse.
