Carter has five siblings, two sisters and three brothers. She has a master’s degree in recreation, sport and tourism from the University of Illinois. She also studied business management at Ball State, where she earned her bachelor's degree, before transferring to Illinois.
Carter has played internationally for seven years in Germany, Australia, the Czech Republic and Greece.
