Maria Schlegel
Biography
Personal: Schlegel's journey in volleyball is unique, as she started playing the sport at the age of 21. She not only excelled in volleyball but also represented Spain in track and field, participating in high jump, long jump, and triple jump events. Off the court, Schlegel has a cat named Jackson. If she were not pursuing a career in volleyball, she has a passion for teaching. She also organizes and runs summer camps for kids, highlighting her commitment to youth development. In her leisure time, Schlegel enjoys spending time with friends and family, traveling, and solving puzzles. She is multilingual and can speak Spanish and Italian, adding to her diverse skill set and experiences.
Other Professional Experience: Schlegel has had a successful professional volleyball career spanning several countries and teams since 2014. She began her professional journey with CV Alcobendas in the 2014-15 season and later spent two seasons with Haro Rioja Vóley in the Spain Superliga. Most recently, Schlegel played two seasons with USC Münster in Germany's first Bundesliga.
International Experience: Schlegel has also represented Spain on the international stage. She played a crucial role in leading Spain to a semifinal berth in the 2017 European League. Additionally, she competed for Spain in the 2013 European Championship, showcasing her talent and dedication to her home country.
