Week 1 Captains Revealed for AU Pro Basketball Season 3

The Week One Captains for Athletes Unlimited Pro Basketball Season 3 have been announced.

Editor’s Note: This article has been updated. Lexie Hull will now captain the Blue team in Week One, while Kelsey Mitchell will captain the Purple team. Isabelle Harrison is inactive, but may be drafted.

Odyssey Sims, Allisha Gray, Lexie Hull, and Kelsey Mitchell will draft the first teams of the 2024 season on Monday, Feb. 26 at 1 p.m. ET. The top four returners from the previous Championship Season’s leaderboard determine the captains for the start of each new AU Pro Basketball season.

This season, AU Senior Reporter Savanna Collins and content creator Janae Sims will host a weekly draft watch party, live on YouTube. The pair will discuss live picks, share their thoughts on the week’s upcoming matchups, and be joined by a guest athlete following the completion of the draft.

Sims will captain the Gold team to begin the season. In 2023, she totaled 6,383 points and led the league in assists (106), minutes played (560), points scored (392), and free throws made (89). She became the first player in AU Pro Basketball history to score 700 career points. She was also the first AU Pro Basketball player to serve as a captain in all five weeks during a season and led her teams to an 8-7 record.

Gray, who logged 5,748 total points on the leaderboard in her first season with AU Pro Basketball last year, will captain the Orange squad. She had an impressive 46.3 field goal percentage and shot 91.8% from the free throw line on 73 trips to the stripe.

In the No. 3 captain spot is Hull, who will wear Blue in Week One. Hull was named the 2023 Defensive Player of the Year by players, facilitators, and fans. She collected 97 rebounds and tied for the league lead in steals (29). She finished 8th on the leaderboard with 5,411 points.

Kelsey Mitchell rounds out the quartet as the Purple team captain, marking her third career stint as a team leader. Mitchell replaces forward Isabelle Harrison in the captain’s chair as Harrison is unable to serve as a captain in Week One, but remains eligible to be drafted.
